Dear Parents As a school we have created PowerPoints so that you can carry on homeschooling without a pack. You will need to read the slides to your child. We appreciate that those parents who are continuing to work, have other significant pressures or have several children to ‘home school’ may not be able to manage to do all the activities we provide. Please select the activities which you feel are best for your child. If you need assistance with this please message staff on Tapestry and they will help you prioritise. I have highlighted activities in green activities that are less of a priority on the week timetable. I strongly recommend you looking through the weeks slides in advance and decide which you feel you can manage to do with your child. YOU DO NOT NEED A PRINTER OR TO REGULARLY USE THE INTERNET TO TEACH YOUR CHILD FROM THESE SLIDES however there are recommended websites and sheets included. You will also find educational activities/sheets to supplement these Powerpoints (or do instead if they are better for you or your child) in the documents section on Tapestry. The text in red is for your information. You DO NOT need to read this to your child. Where quotation marks ‘....’ are used please use the same language with your child. The text in pink are suggested extension activities if you feel your child would like more work to do or they are achieving the set tasks quickly and easily and therefore need stretching. Please remember we are all on hand to help you. Just add an observation to your child's Tapestry journal and we will respond. Thank you and happy home schooling. Best wishes from Mrs Rose.
Unfortunately I don't have access to a computer with the correct font on it so please use this letter formation sheet to teach your child to form their letters correctly every time they write even if the letters on the slides do not look like this ⇠e.g. when they write the new ‘ay’ phoneme.
Monday 20th April Maths Today your maths task is to make a calendar that you can use to show the day of the week, the month and the date everyday like we do at school. In Grasshopper class we show the date using Numicon tiles. At home you maybe able to show the date using a Lego tower, an abacus, or similar.
PARENTS - This will help your child to relate ordinal numbers (e.g. 14th, 20th, 31st) to the sequence of numbers we use to count. We look forward to seeing your calendars? There are resources on Twinkl https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-c-1212-todays-date-display-pack if you need them but it really doesn't have to look great it is to help your child use numbers for a purpose, continue with routines they enjoyed at school and use the mathematical vocabulary associated with time e.g. “tomorrow, yesterday, weekend, week, month, date.
Monday 20th April Phonics warm up - https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/member-only/Flashcards.html You need to login with User name: march20 Password: home Today in
phonics
we are going to learn a new phoneme. It is
the ‘ay’ phoneme as in ‘day’. A good day to learn ‘ay’ as you will need to write it at least 7 times to make your calendar. Please watch the following video. How many many more ‘ay’ words can you think of? Write a list of all your ‘ay’ words. https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/primary_uk/subject/module/video/item63782gradef//module63425/index.ht ml
Monday 20th April In march we found 3 clumps of frogs spawn in our school pond. What do you think will have happened to the frogs spawn? Can you use Espresso, any relevant books you have and websites such as https://www.kidzone.ws/lw/frogs/facts3.htm to talk about the life cycle of a frog. You may wish to make one of the Headbands. PARENTS - There are lots of great websites about the life cycle of a frog however many of them talk about the mating process so you might want to be selective or prepared for questions.
