The YMYI artifact: YMYI (You Move You Interact) is an interactive installation developed by João Martinho Moura, to create a connection between the physical and the projected. The project aims to explore a spatial sphere, where the user/performer is invited to develop his own creative inspiration based on his own body gestures and movements. Inspired by the work of António Damásio, this installation plays with the ideas of mental patterns we create of first and third person experiences. The project has been exhibited at a number of events as well as used in theatrical performances. João Martinho is an interactive media artist and a software designer in the area of multimedia and information systems. He worked in several projects in various fields, such as education, media, entertainment, telecommunications and health industries, in Portugal, Israel, France and United Kingdom. About the author of YMYI João Martinho Moura is an Interactive Media Artist born in Portugal. João Martinho is a software designer in the area of multimedia and information systems. He worked in several projects in fields of education, media, entertainment, telecommunications and health industries, in Portugal, Israel, France and United Kingdom. His interests are focused in intelligent interfaces, digital art and music. He is writing his thesis in the Master Degree in Technology and Digital Artsfrom the University of Minho, and holds a graduation diploma in informatics from the University of Minho, Portugal. João Martinho is also a musician and a founding member of Ontoêta's project (www.ontoeta.com). João Martinho is a founding member of the YMYI (www.ymyi.org), AQVAE (www.aqvae.org) and GTDV (www.gtdv.org) Digital Art Projects. He recently participated, as a visual artist with the YMYI artefact, in the 2008 International Symposium on Computational Aesthetics in Graphics, Visualization, and Imaging (CAe 2008) (http://www.computationalaesthetics.org) and at the OFFF Festival in 2009 (International Festival For The Post-Digital Culture). Joao Martinho digital art work has recently included in the curatedsellection of the processing.org platform, from the Aesthetics and Computation Group at the MIT Media Lab.
