Sacred Heart School for the Arts

A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I was honored this year to join the leadership team of this amazing campus, following in the footsteps of Dr. Anna Jo Paul as Executive Director. I know many will join me in thanking Dr. Paul for many years of service to the community at Sacred Heart. I pray that she will enjoy a time of rest and fun with her family and start all the hobbies she didn’t have time to do.

Finding the new normal after the world shut down because of Covid-19 has been a challenging experience in which many arts organizations have had to close their doors permanently. Yet, Sacred Heart School for the Arts is still here, and we are excited about the level of excellence and experience our instructors and staff provide. One thing we know for sure, Covid-19 left devastating effects on our children. The arts have a unique role in nurturing healthy reintegration and a pathway out of the alienation many experienced. Creativity and self-expression boost social-emotional learning at a time when mental health is at risk. As we move through the 2022-23 year, I firmly believe in building a culture of encouragement where instructors love coming to work because of the people with whom they work, and students feel a sense of belonging and community as they grow in their crafts. We want to be the hub of arts education for the region and a model of excellence in our service and culture.

In his letter to artists in 1999, Pope John Paul II began his closing with, “May the beauty which you pass on to generations still to come be such that it will stir them to wonder!” We have an incredible opportunity before us to be that place where generations can come together to experience wonder in music, theatre, visual arts, and dance.

Thank you for your enduring support and commitment to this vision.

Verum, bonum, pulchrum petimus, (in pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty) Kathie Davis Executive Director
