HEARTLAND COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
A PROPOSED 25 BED MOTHER AND CHILD HOSPITAL WITH COMPREHENSIVE EMERGENCY OBSTETRICS AND NEWBORN CARE ( CEMONC ) LOCATION: DAPDAP, TARLAC TYPE OF PROJECT: TEAM (NICO SANTOS, REGINE LURA) YEAR: 3RD YR-2ND SEM
01
The human body is composed of several vital organs that all work together. Every organ has its own unique responsibility, but perhaps the most important organ that God has created within the confines of the human body is the human heart. In this proposed Mother and Child hospital, it revolves around the concept of heart. The concept of heart is integrated along with the nature, both of which serves the similar purpose of being the source of life. The heart acts as the courtyard at the center of the hospital. Just like the vines in the heart, the courtyard is composed of several plant materials with its roots acting as the vines of the heart. Another thing is the oxygen the heart produces, the courtyard prompts cross ventilation into the building which makes it appear as if the hospital is breathing.
FORM CONCEPT The form was derived from the sloping of both the place they originated which is the mountain and their first form of habitat which is the lean to roofs DESIGN STRATEGY This hospital approached sustainability by means of using local materials, implementing passive cooling and natural daylight in which all will help to make the hospital more suitable, economical and practical fr the community most especially for the Best fortunate

Overall, the concept of nature at the heart of the hospital is the reflection of the heart of the aetas. It is a reflection of what they truly are and where they belong. It is a celebration of their culture since living with nature was one their first form of habitat. With the nature beside them not only it will recover them faster it will also connect them back to their indigenous life.

02 PROPOSED ECO-MMUNITY CENTER WITH RECREATIONAL PARK
PARTICIPATION TO AYDA DESIGN COMPETITION LOCATION: TONDO, MANILA TYPE OF PROJECT: INDIVIDUAL DESIGN PLATE YEAR: 4TH YEAR-1ST SEM

Tondo, Manila is considered as the city’s largest slum. Due to the over populated place, the pollution of the place is at its peak. This crowded urban areas may sound minor but it can have a big impact to the environment. The lack of open space provokes an unsecured and introverted community. Hence, the proposed Urban Recreation park and Eco-mmunity centre aims not only to resolve the existing environmental issue but also to rekindle the friendship in the neighborhood.
LET CULTURE GUIDE DESIGN
MAKING TONDO BREATH AGAIN Nature is perhaps what brings spirit and color to our daily lives but in the urban context in tondo manila, the sight of the place is somewhat in monochromatic and grayscale tone. The absence of the green spaces deprived the community from seeing the deep rooted beauty of the place. In this proposed Urban Recreational Park , the park infuses polychromatic environment to the monochromatic setting of Tondo. It influences hope and positivity into the place by enhancing what the place already has and making the community realize its worth. A two step forward in resolving the existing environmental issues of the place as well as reengaging the people of the community to one another. FORM CONCEPT Tondo, Manila is considered as the city’s largest slum. Due to the over populated place, the pollution of the place is at its peak. RADIAL LANDSCAPE SYSTEM This system fixes the space and at the same time, it defines importance to the place. The radial form also allows dynamic flow of the wind giving each aspect of the park equal amount of air. Apart from those, the concentric pattern orbiting around the main building prevents the user from lost of track instead it offers them endless accessibility to the park

To justify the concept, this park also envisions multifunction landscape offering agricultural opportunities and communal experience. A network of agricultural plot will take advantage of the estero nearby re-establishing the community’s aquifer and reducing the risk of flood downstream. Pedestrians promotes biking and walking experiences both of which induces a healthy lifestyle for people. Recreational, entertainment and healing spaces are carefully oriented to accomplish an effective interactive space that allows the community to connect to the nature and to one another. Overall. all of these are just fragments of the entire picture. The park is just a park alone, but when mix together with community and the people , it will make Tondo manila breathe again.

03 PROPOSED MIXED-USE HIGHRISE BUILDING LOCATION: ROXAS BOULEVARD TYPE OF PROJECT: INDIVIDUAL DESIGN PLATE YEAR: 4TH YEAR-2ND SEM The phenomenon of life seen in nature such as the adaptive powers of animals, the skin reaction of humans to changes in temperature and the closing and opening of flowers in response to sunlight, are what binds the living matters to the environment it lies in. The responsiveness of the living matters shows its ability to adapt itselfvto the impending global environmental changes in order to sustain the life within the system. In this proposed Mixed Used High-rise, the building acts as if its a living matter that relies on the external environmental conditions in order to sustain its needs. Similar to that, this building utilizes the physical and environmental motion that drives the building to provide its purpose. Such utilizations involves actively exploiting renewable resources to generate the energy that will drive the building’s comfort system which also mitigates the depletion of non renewable resources, pollution and rapid global environmental changes.
09
Another thing is that it envisions bio-climatic approach by amplifying the sensitivity and responsiveness of the building to the nature by means of using renewable resources to generate responsive technologies. This will suit the varying internal and external conditions while simultaneously improving as well the comfort and quality of life in the community. Overall, structurally sound buildings that lacks connection with nature is vulnerable to disaster but integrating nature within the building is the most powerful connection no natural and man-made disaster can disrupt. FORM CONCEPT This bottom heavy form is derived from the form of a crystal. The crystal symbolizes the wealth, elegance and sentimental value of Roxas Boulevard which used to be an entertainment district. It also serves as the birthstone of place representing the regrowth and hope for the polluted manila bay as it resembles a geode wherein in the surface of rocks and dirts, beneath it is a crystal.
10
The building serves as as the focal point of the site emphasizing the importance and character of the building. With the building footprint placed on center it also separates the outdoor spaces creating several zonings to different parts of the building. This increases in accessibility and entrances for the users coming from different regions and bounded to different parts of the building.

The site is known for its low bearing capacity since it is near Manila Bay. The site also faces the wind forces coming from Manila Bay which could also affect the lateral strength of the building.
Just like the human senses this building introduces a skin changing facade and interior wherein it has sensory system that detects the changes in condition from internal to external and corresponds to it thoroughly.
The structural design of this building corresponds to the different mandmade and natural loads that can affect its stability and intact to the ground.

HIRAYA Holistic Healing Horticulture Resort LOCATION: LOS BANOS, LAGUNA TYPE OF PROJECT: THESIS INDIVIDUAL YEAR: 5TH YR
Many Filipinos live their everyday life susceptible to stress. As stressful situations are an inevitable part of life experience, it comes in many forms ranging from work-related problems to social problems to natural and man-made disasters. However, in the event of dangerous situations or psychological pressures like road accidents, armed conflicts, violence, sexual assaults or even pressures from work or school, the country still lacks great coping mechanisms, especially for mental health. Prolonged exposure to such situations may lead to Chronic Stress, which is a mental aftershock of a stressful and traumatic event. Without proper self-care and professional help, people with recurrent stress may develop stress-related disorders ranging from physical problems to mental complications including hypertension, depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD or worse, death.
19
Application of Sensory Design as an Architectural Intervention to Achieve Optimal Health
With the escalating mental health problems in the Philippines due to stressful and traumatic events, it has led the researcher to propose a project that could address its prevalence before it triggers a greater scope of stress-related disorders. Holistic Healing Horticultural Resort shall be located at the foothill of Mt. Makiling in Los Banos, Laguna to satisfy the lack of mental health assistance in the countryside regions. This resort caters from young to adult trauma survivors who seek mental health assistance without admitting themselves within the confined walls of the hospital. This resort also aims to provide a relaxing and trans-formative sanctuary wherein people can explore beyond their senses, discover their inner peace and recover their purpose, all at once. In this thesis, the researcher explores the potential of holistic enhancement of the resort through the application of sensory experience in the design, layout, and function of the project encompassing the physical, emotional and mental being of the users. Through this, healing architecture shall be introduced as a paradigm shift from the conventional approach of healthcare design.
20
In hopes to alleviate the emerging significant health problems caused by stress, the Proposed Holistic Healing Horticulture Resort calls for a complex that integrates modern-day therapeutic practices and Filipino hospitality within a resort as an overall transformative sanctuary without compromising the culture of the Filipinos. The healing resort will address the lack of mental health assistance especially to provincial area, the insufficient number of health workers that will support the mental health needs of the community, inefficiency of the previous and existing healthcare approach. It will serve as a facility that can cater the continuous growing number of people exposed stress, contribute to the lack of mental health workers, and promotes mental health awareness and environmental conservation. By introducing a resort in line with the emerging health resort trends, this will transform the conventional health care design and optimize the healing aspect of the resort making it a prominent health destination in the province.

Here are some the plates I did during my viscom subjects. I used kuretake markers, finecolour markers and parchment paper for these renders, as these materials allowed me to achieve a watercolor finish that made my plates stood out from others. These plated helped me find my deeper passion for Architecture. It helped me create a style that complements me as a person.

This is one of my collaboratives works during my 2nd year in college. This is a proposed parking building designed by 3 members. With the 3 members of our group, we were able to finish it on time and accomplished the highest score in our class. In this scale model, i was in charge of the site development features. This when my passion for landscape architecture started to grow.
