Welcome,

We are a husband and wife team who love capturing life’s moments and creating art. We absolutely enjoy the time we spend getting to know the couples we work with. What a great opportunity it is to learn more about our bride and groom’s love story, and what visions they have for their unique wedding day. There is a lot of organizing and planning that goes into a wedding day and every couple is different. We want to make sure we are the right fit for each other. Photography can be one of the most important decisions you will make, and we believe that wedding photography is an investment for life. We strive to give our couples the best experience possible while capturing a variety of formal, candid, and stylized images. We hope this magazine will give you a sense of our style and help you learn more about wedding photography.

xoxo Jo‐Anne + Ryan

Things We Love Each other, our family, traveling, and of course photography.

We are high school sweethearts

Ryan proposed to Jo‐Anne on top of a hill at a conservation park in the fall.

Married October 11 2009 in the small town of Newcastle

We honeymooned in Paris, England, and Scotland. It was an experience of a lifetime!

Kind words from our clients...

“ We don’t know where to begin thanking you guys! Thank you first for being such amazing friends, and second for being such talented photographers and sharing that talent with us. We can’t begin to express our appreciation for the hard work and time you both put into our day. It means a lot to us that such important part of our celebration was in the hands of people we care and trust, and who had our best interest at heart. Thank you for working so late in the night; everyone loved the photo/silly booth and they will be great for us to look back at.” Courtney + Nick

“ Great pictures and beautiful memories! You made it very easy and comfortable for us. Thank you so much Ryan and Jo-Anne!” Aaron + Christina

Your Wedding Experience with e are story tellers. We believe that as a husband and wife team we provide special ad‐ vantages to our bride and grooms be‐ cause we are two fully experienced pho‐ tographers. Before the big day we help create a photography timeline to help make the day go as smoothly as possible. We assist our brides in making a list of absolute must have shots. The day of the wedding we usually split up in the beginning. Ryan hangs out with the guys while Jo‐Anne has fun with the girls getting ready. The biggest day of your life doesn’t have to be as stressful as everyone What’s Hot Consider an “unplugged wedding” A new trend is making an announcement to guests to turn off their cell phones and camera and enjoy the wedding ceremony. Let the professional photographers capture the moment. That way your photographers shot will not be blocked by guests iPads or phones so the couple gets the best photos. During reception guests are encouraged to take as many photos as they want.

makes it out to be. As your photographers we will hold your hand, wipe away your tears (of joy), and make you feel as comfortable as possible so you can focus on living in the moment and have fun. The best pictures are the ones that are the most natural — the ones that are captured in between poses. These are the memories we will create for you to cherish for years. Something you will be able to re‐live and share with your loved ones.

5 Tips for Luminous Wedding Photographs Light. This is an essential element to beautiful wedding photographs. If you have your heart set on a sunset ceremony you should consider taking photographs with you family and husband before you exchange vows. Trust. Your wedding photographer will undoubtedly be with you more than anyone else on your wedding day. It is so important that you feel comfortable and trust the person making your wedding images. The more at ease you are the more natural and flattering your photos will be. Posing. The secret art to posing is to simply be yourself. If you feel shy look down and take a deep breath. Any pose is just a starting point leading (hopefully) to a real unrehearsed moment. Time. Even the most seasoned photographers cannot do their best work with out adequate time to capture all the elements of your wedding day. Be sure to communicate with your photographer when figuring out the timing of your day.

Love. Love is beautiful, so show your love. Laugh. Kiss. Enjoy every moment of your celebration. There is nothing more beautiful in life and in photographs then the presence of true love.

Preparation Photos This is the part of the day some people are often not sure if they want covered, but it’s one of our favourites and helps tell the whole story of the day. From a photographers point of view, the ideal space to get ready would be a spacious, light and tidy area. While most people assume that it only takes about a half hour to do their preparation shots, we recommend at least an hour and a half. We know you want to enjoy your wedding, so we try to get as many of the important Quick tips: photos out of the way  Have your bouquet ready and delivered to where you are before the getting ready. This allows us to ceremony. When we arrive, rather than starting to point our cameras at get photos of it before the everyone straight away we will start photographing details like the flowers wilt or get damaged. dress, shoes, invitations, flowers, bow ties or whatever you have chosen  Hang your dress on a nice for your day. If someone could show us where these are we can snap hanger! There is nothing more distracting than a beautiful away until people feel a bit more comfy with being photographed. Depending where  If your bridesmaids will be the venue is located we like to capture details of the reception prior to helping you put on your dress, the ceremony. When planning your day it is a good idea to ensure all have them be fully ready and table settings, flower arrangements, signage and decorations are set‐up dressed when they do this or in first thing in the morning. matching cute robes. It will look much better in the photographs.  Keep your getting‐ready space free of clutter and mess!  Think about the accessories you want photographed and keep them all together so your photographer knows exactly what you want photos of and where they will be located (this counts for guys too!)  Bring along a few sets of your beautiful and undamaged wedding stationary (invitations, save the dates, etc.) for your photographer to capture

The Ceremony

We love capturing the looks on your faces when you first see each other, happy smiles in the crowd, tears and the first kiss. It is a good idea to check with whoever is conducting your ceremony that they are happy with us being present and ask what restrictions they may have for professional photographers.

Family Portraits For family formals to run smoothly we ask our couples to make a very detailed shot list of family, including names. It is a good idea to email or communicate to your family ahead of the wedding day the order of the photo timeline. This eliminates grandparents standing for long periods or family members with young ones to behave or searching for family members because they are busy with the next wedding task and do not realize they need to be in the family photo. It is always a good idea to have two photography assistants who know most of the family groupings as well to help gather family members.

Bridal Formals To allow amazing photos and the feeling of not being rushed we request at least a couple hours to photograph your bridal party and your couple portraits. This allows time for traveling to different scenery locations for your photos. Because we carry so much equipment with us ,we take time to set up and clean up at each at each location.

The Reception This is the perfect time to catch candid images. Entrances, cake cutting and dancing are the fun moments we love capturing. During meal times we feel it is am intimate time for family and friends to catch up and talk about how beautiful the wedding day has been. No one really wants to be photographed while they’re eating. This gives us an opportunity to eat a meal in a separate area or vendors guest table to allow us to go over the days photos without disturbing your guest. We ask that we are served meals at the same time as you; that way we will be done and ready to capture everything afterwards. If you decide to have speeches during meals, we ask to be provided with a meal before your entrances.

More Quick Tips:  If you cannot have the reception space ready for your photographer in the morning, ask your coordinator (or whoever is putting everything together) if they can have one table set for details shots.  If possible, stand in the shade or with the sun behind you during your ceremony. This keeps you from having to squint during the ceremony, while also providing much more flattering light.  If you are planning to use a sound system, make sure that speakers and cords are far from the space where you will be standing as these can be very distracting in photos.  If you are getting married late afternoon or if you have a really busy schedule you might want to consider a first look and formal portraits to be done prior to the ceremony.  In the future, your family photos will mean more to you than you can imagine, so lose the cheesy smile and step in close and give your parents a good old hug and kiss

Tips for Formals

1.

You may have a spot in mind to have formals with that beautiful background, but this does not mean your pictures will turn out the way you think. Sun casts dark shadows on your face and causes squinting. The best spot for photos is a cloudy day, sun directly behind you, or an open shaded area.

2.

Take off those sunglasses or give that big purse to someone to hold onto.

3.

We want to make sure everyone is smiling and has their eyes open so there will be a few photos taken of the group to make sure.

After the Wedding You can expect to receive your edited images within 6 to 8 weeks of the big day, if, for any reason it will take a little longer we will let you know as soon as possible. We love sharing sneak peeks on our Facebook Page. It is a great way to share with family and friends the joy and excitement of your day. Because we only take a limited number of weddings per year you will not be waiting for months for your images. Overall we hope your wedding experience with us is fun, memorable and something you will want to talk about with your family and friends

Capturing The Moments When… Your dad hugs his little girl before giving you away & The first time he looks at you and thinks he is the luckiest man.

OH MY GOODNESS! THEY ARE AMAZING! WOW! We looked at them this morning and just love everyone! They will look great in that guest book you were talking about. They look amazing! Thank-you so much again, we are sooooo looking forward to the wedding! You two are amazing! What an eye for shots and you find the perfect one! Laura and Ryan

Tips for your Engagement Session 1. Get professional make‐up, hair and manicure before session 2. Wear dressy, casual clothing that makes you feel comfortable 3. Bring alternative outfits 4. Bring along props for a few fun sentimental shots 5. Clean your engagement ring 6. BE YOURSELVES!

E-Session hy shoot and engagement session? This two hour snippet of your lives is so important to our understanding of you two as a couple, and is the best preparation for the wed‐ ding day photographs! E‐sessions are the perfect way for us to truly connect with you before your big day. We are offered a glimpse into your personalities, interactions and everything that makes you, YOU! You are also given the opportunity to let us know what you like and don’t like in images of yourself—are there any angles you want to avoid? Not only does it allow us as photographer to learn more about you and your personalities, but it allows you to learn about us. Couples who decide to have an e‐session with us are more comfortable around our cameras and our shooting style on the wedding day. After seeing the images we produce, couples are often excited about having their wedding images shot that they forget they were even dreading being in front of the camera all day. A happy, comfortable environment will be reflected back in your wedding images, and will mean all the difference in your memories.

We offer complimentary e-sessions with our collections

Ready For Your Close-Up? MORE IS BETTER. Because you’re likely to look washed out without it, wear more makeup than you would if you were going out for the evening. Even if you are not the type to wear a ton of make‐up, make an exception for your e‐session and wedding day. SHIMMER ME TIMBERS. Go easy on the shimmers and translucent powders. A little goes a long way, but too much ends up looking streaky and unpolished. FALSIES. Not only do fake eyelashes make your eyes pop, you will hardly notice that they’re there. Make sure to research and consult with your make‐up artist to know which ones to buy. BLEND IN. Use a blending brush to seamless blend your concealer, powder and your bronzer together along your face and your neck for a flawless, natural look. STAND UP TALL. Because most of us sit at a computer these days, good posture will be the icing on the cake.

What To Wear? STYLE POLICE. Go tuck yourself, here's the deal: Let‐ ting your dress shirt hang out doesn't make you look younger or thinner. Unless you are wearing a casual t‐ shirt, traditional dress shirts aren't meant to be untucked; they're cut long so they remain in your pants. Tucking in your shirt won't kill you, it'll just make you look better. PINTEREST WARDROBE IDEAS. We love colours that compliment each other. Wear clothing for the season. If it is a Fall session it may get cold, so dress for the weather or your faces in your pictures will show how cold you really were. THE BENEFITS TO DOING A FIRST LOOK What is a First Look? We hear so much about it today when referring to wedding photography. Take this opportunity to demystify the concept and how you might find yourselves reconsidering the traditional approach to bridal portraits.

GOOD FOR YOUR GUESTS

Your guests will thank you for it! You know what I’m talking about, the long break between the ceremony and the reception, which can sometimes but a damper on the momentum of the day. The couple rushes Tradition has always dictated that it is bad luck to see through the bridal portraits because they have to get to the bride prior to the ceremony. Many people still their guests or they spend more time on the portraits believe that it will take away from seeing your future and have to make their guests wait. With a first look, bride or groom when walking down the aisle. You AN OPTIMAL TIMELINE AND A LESS STRESSFUL will still experience that moment. The first look allows WEDDING DAY you to indulge in the time with the person you love A wonderful benefit to doing the first look is the control most as well as soak up the wedding experience. As I mentioned earlier, couples have to choose what is right it gives the bride and groom over their wedding day schedule. Together, the couple and the photographer for them. can decide how much time to allot for their formal portraits instead of rushing to have them completed after the ceremony. There are many photos to be taken after the ceremony in addition to the bridal portraits, such as the bridal party and the family formals. It can be a lot to squeeze in when you have a tight time frame. The first look is typically scheduled about an hour or more before the ceremony. When the bride and groom are fully dressed and ready, we have them meet for the first time. It is a great opportunity to capture a very special moment between the couple. The first look can be even more intimate and romantic because it is just the two of you enjoying your time together, without any expectations or stress. Nor do you have all your guests looking at you, which can be a little unnerving. MAKING THE WEDDING EXPERIENCE MORE MEANINGFUL When setting up the first look, we look for a very private area that will enhance the moment. For many brides and grooms, the first look enhances the rest of the wedding day. You get to spend the time shooting in great locations, kissing, laughing, and really being at ease with each other. By the time you start to walk down the aisle, the nerves will be gone.
