Architectural and urban intervention: stundent housing by the river. Ribeira do Porto, the place where the city was born, is a very touristic and picturesque area in spite of its urban and social problems. The programs are a student housing, an art gallery with a tourism post and eating facilities. The answer integrates the buildings in a public space composed by various platforms that allow the user to relate with the river in different ways, highlighting the scenic qualities of the place. Developed in all scales 2007/2008 Supervised by Architect Madalena Pinto

30 flats In this first approach to collective housing the students were asked to design a residential building in no specific site. The project consists of three-storey houses that are organized in pairs, each pair sharing a common garage. These dwellings focus on a strong visual relationship between the kitchen, the dining room, the drawing room and the garden. The bedroom floor is much more private, the most intimate and quiet area of the house. Scales: 1/200 Ă 1/50 2008/2009 Supervised by Architect Maria JosĂŠ Casanova

Collective housing: 200 flats in Monte Pedral The exercise begins by the restructure of a block in Monte Pedral, a city area that is undergoing some ma jor changes. There, the old houses and streets coexist with contemporary buildings and recent urban developments. The new program consists mainly of dwellings but it also includes some commercial facilities, offices and parking areas. The second part of the exercise was the development of one dwelling. Inspired by L’Unité d’Habitation de Le Corbusier, the building is mainly composed of two-stored flats but also has shops, offices and space for parking the cars. Developed in all scales 2008/2009 Supervised by Architect Maria José Casanova

Hotel in Douro’s riverside, Porto The program consists of a 5* hotel with a congress centre and spa, on Porto’s riverfront. The concrete of the proposed building harmonizes with the granite quarry, evoking the qualities of strength and durability. The bedrooms, facing the river, have the luxury of a privileged landscape, highlighted by the austere simplicity of the room interior. Developed in all scales 2009/2010 Supervised by Architect Camilo Rebelo

Urban project for Leça do Balio, from the road network to the park bench The area is characterized by a strong diversity and fragmented urban tissue. The starting point was the creation of the Ideal City Concept – what is an Ideal City for the working team? Afterwards we analysed the area, devised a strategy and finally conceived an intervention plan. After deciding which actions should be undertaken, we divided the area in operating units and distributed them to the members of the team. Each member had to make an urban project for his unit, always in accordance with the main ideas of the working group. Developed in all scales 2010/2011 In collaboration with: Joana Brito, Mónica Silva, Ivo Duarte e Mariana Consciência Supervised by Architect Luís Pedro Silva
