Please remember we would like for the 7th - 12th graders to volunteer to help the teachers with the younger children. There is NO fee for these volunteers. Jr./Sr. High Religious Education A meeting was held on Wednesday, June 8th with parents of religious education students in grades 7-10 at Mary, Mother of Jesus Church. This meeting was intended to discuss how and if the program should be modified to better meet the needs of our students. It was unanimously agreed by Fr. Paul, our youth ministers, and the parents present that beginning this fall, we will meet on Sunday evening in the Youth Center following the 5:30PM Mass. While it is our intention that the students attend the 5:30PM Mass, it is not a requirement should they choose to attend Mass at an alternate time. These weekly gatherings will be a combination of religious education and youth ministry, ending at 8:00PM. The rationale for this change from Wednesday evenings is to avoid the conflicts that periodically presented themselves on Wednesday evenings. It is also an opportunity for this age group to meet exclusively with teachers Matt and Katie in a more relaxed, multi-educational experience where issues of current events and religion can be addressed and discussed.

Fall Garage Sale We are planning ahead for a garage sale on Saturday, September 17th. As you continue to clean and organize your homes, please save any garage sale worthy items you may have lying around your house or garage etc. All donations for our sale are appreciated. When the time gets closer, we will announce a date and time for drop off. Until then, please hold on to your donations. If you have any questions, please call Priscilla Gadel at (318) 446-5502.

Mass & Sanctuary Candle Intentions Masses can be celebrated and candles memorialized for the living or the dead, in thanksgiving, for birthdays, anniversaries, prayers answered, or any other acceptable and appropriate need or reason. Although Masses are always “free”, a monetary donation is customary. Please call the parish office.

If you have any serious concerns, please call or email me or Matt as soon as possible. 4

Thank You For Your Generosity! Stewardship Note In today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus inviting his disciples to be evangelizers. “The harvest is abundant,” Jesus says. But those who are willing to invite others to a deeper relationship with the Lord are few. Good stewards who are willing to witness their Catholic faith to others know they are “like lambs among wolves.” They are encouraged to be gentle, patient and loving, knowing they may face rejection and even fierce opposition. The Year of Mercy invites us to be better stewards of our faith, to give positive, courageous, joyful witness to others who have turned away from their relationship with Jesus. Is there someone we should be reaching out to this week?
