WARNING

Possible dangers to your life and health if respective calls to action are ignored.

DANGER

Warns about a situation that can cause death, serious physical injury and/or heavy material damage if safety instructions are ignored.

1. Some state and local traffic laws may require that your E-Bike be equipped with a warning device such as a horn or bell and a light if the E-Bike is to be ridden after dark. When you are riding on the road, make sure that you are always visible to vehicles. Always respect the rules of the road.

2. Always wear proper protective equipment such as a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, long sleeve shirt, gloves, and long pants.

3. Wet weather warning: Ride slowly in slippery areas and in rainy and snowy conditions. Your braking distance will increase in these conditions. Use the rear brake lever FIRST then the front brake lever or use both brake levers TOGETHER when braking on a slippery surface.

4. The kickstand is designed to support the E-Bike only, not the rider.

5. Always double check your E-Bike before riding it (tighten the handlebars and stem, check the seat, wheels, brakes, etc.)

6. Significant mechanical repairs should be conducted by a skilled bike mechanic.

7. Adjust the seat height and handlebar height before you begin riding. You must be able to straddle the E-Bike with at least 1 inch (2.54 cm) of clearance above the horizontal

bar when standing. Please refer to the assembly instructions section for seat adjustment instructions.

8. Check the tire pressure. The tire pressure range of this E-Bike is 140-280 kpa (20–40 psi). Please ensure that the tire pressure is within this range before riding to avoid accidents.

9. Children under 14 years old should not play with this product. DO NOT LET CHILDREN INFLATE TIRES OR CHARGE THE BATTERY. Charging, cleaning, and maintenance should not be performed by children without adult supervision.

10. Do not touch the motor immediately after riding, as the surface may be hot.

11. This E-Bike is intended to be used on paved roads. It is not intended for use on unpaved ground or off-road. Failure to follow these warnings could result in an accident and permanently damage the E-Bike.

12. Nighttime operation: We do NOT recommend riding your E-Bike at night. If you have an emergency that makes it necessary to ride at right, make sure you have the proper lights and reflectors. Wear bright, reflective clothing. Do NOT ride at night without a headlight, taillight, a white front reflector, a red rear reflector, and white wheel reflectors.

13. Avoid the following hazards: drain grates, potholes, ruts, soft road edges, gravel, and leaves (especially when they are wet).

14. It is strongly recommended that you conduct periodic maintenance on your E-Bike. The frequency of maintenance will be determined by the frequency and length of your rides, your style of riding, and the terrain on which you ride most often.

15. Modifying or attempting to repair the E-Bike except as indicated in the instructions for use and care is prohibited.

WARNING

Read all instructions before using the product.

To reduce the risk of injury, adult supervision is required.

Do not put fingers or hands into the product.

Do not use this product if the flexible power cord or output cable is frayed, has broken insulation, or any other signs of damage.

This equipment is not intended to be used at ambient temperatures less than 0°C (32°F) or above ambient temperatures of 30°C (86°F).

The battery is intended to be charged when the ambient temperature is between 0°C (32°F) and 30°C (86°F). Never charge the battery when ambient temperatures are outside this range.

Modifying or attempting to repair the E-Bike system except as indicated in the instructions for use and care is prohibited.

Charging of the E-Bike shall only be performed with the manufacturer's recommended charger.

1. The battery is 60% pre-charged out of the box. Fully charge the battery before your first ride.

2. The battery can only be replaced by a professional mechanic. Do NOT attempt to repair the battery yourself.

3. The battery must be removed and safely discarded before disposing of the E-Bike.

4. Ensure that the E-Bike is unplugged before removing the battery.

5. Do not use the E-Bike in the rain or in a waterlogged area. The operating temperature range of the Astoria and the charger is 32°F (0°C) to 104°F (40°C). Keep the E-Bike, battery, and charger stored in a temperature-controlled environment within this range. Do not use the E-Bike outside of this temperature range. Temperatures that are too cold or too hot will affect the battery efficiency and charging capacity. Never charge the battery when ambient temperatures are outside this range.

6. Only use the supplied charger to charge the battery. Only charge the battery in a well-ventilated area.

7. Do not expose the battery to heat or charge it in direct sunlight or in the rain.

8. Do not disassemble or modify the battery. Do not connect the (+) and (-) connections of the battery with a metal object. Do not expose the battery to liquids.

9. In the event of non-use, infrequent use, or storage, recharge the battery at least every three months to ensure that it will work properly, and keep it in a dry environment.

10. Do not fully deplete the battery, as this may cause damage to the battery. Keep the battery level between 20% and 80% as much as possible.

CHARGER SAFETY

Adhere to these guidelines for proper use of your charger.

1. The external flexible cable of this charger cannot be replaced. If the cord becomes damaged, the charger must be scrapped. Use of a universal charger voids the warranty.

2. Never pull the electric cord to disconnect the charger. Pull from the plug.

3. Always turn off the E-Bike before maintenance, cleaning, or charging.

4. The plug and power adapter must be used indoors.

3. It is recommended that you purchase chain lube for daily chain maintenance. To apply the chain lube, deposit a drop on the top of each chain link. The lube will work its way into the chain.

NOTE

It is recommended to do a maintenance check-up for your Astoria at least once per year. The first maintenance check-up should be performed after the first 155 miles/250 kilometers traveled or 3 months from receipt. Additional service is recommended as necessary.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Please check your country or state’s regulations on electric bikes before riding. There are variations on age limit, speed, motor wattage, and road accessibility. Visit this website for more information: https://peopleforbikes.org/our-work/E-Bikes/policies-and-laws/

In most European countries and Australia, the rules of public traffic pertaining to bicycles also apply to E-Bikes traveling up to 25 km/h. However, there are some notable differences (such as the age limit of the cyclist).

IN NORTH AMERICA

Each Astoria E-Bike comes programmed in speed limited mode, which allows for throttle operation up to 20 mph. This allows the Astoria to be legally ridden on most bike paths without a license or insurance. This setting can be adjusted in the settings menu.

For areas where throttle-powered electric bicycles are not allowed, the Astoria can be operated using pedal assist up to 28 mph.

IN EUROPE

Astoria follows EPAC (Electrically Power Assisted Cycles) operating standards with pedal assist up to 25 km/h and 250 watts of power output (street legal for all European countries).

Pedal assist up to 45 km/h is available only for private land use.

It is the rider’s responsibility to follow local E-Bike regulations. Be sure that you are up to date with your local motor vehicle codes.
