BENDING EXPLLORATION
COMPRESSIVE EXPLORATION
The project envisions how much more contaminated the air will be in 2071 if this worrying trend of global pollution continues and seeks to explore the potential of a natural system in the form of totora to filter harmful air particles and aid in the creation of clean habitable spaces for human occupation as opposed to the use of plastic fibers in air filters used today. The study also seeks to conduct research on the physical properties of totora, particularly its lightness, and its potential in the creation of a stereotomic architectural system- which have conventionally been created using heavy massing blocks.

INDIVIDUAL THESIS Focusing on the investigation of mycelium (fungus root)and extracting their growth behaviors and adaptability, this thesis examines the potential use of mycelium as a new source of bio-material in replacement of existing building material. Through experiments and fungal growth studies, two main results can be achieved: 1.The study and experimentation of the extent of mycelium as physical structure material; and 2.The use of mycelium as a new building material, with digital simulations derived through mimicking the behaviors, and the range of possible architectural design.

GAME OF LIFE
Evolutionary form-generating software has transformed the architectural image into event and performance, either by understanding architecture as the epigenesis of spatial conditions, or by the object being conceptualized as the actualization of built-up potentials. Digital methods, primarily software appropriated from the entertainment and industrial design sectors, have destabilized the essential connection of the architectural image-object we as architects have been studying until now. As a result, we were challenged to design new forms of public interaction as extensions of our reality. We are proposing an immersive architectural experience focused on education, using VR,AR and XR tools.

With this thesis project we are trying to introduce a new kind of design, one that visualizes emotions and experiences in place of simple spatial explorations. The result was a virtual reality meeting place, that has been designed with an interactive algorithm, Conway’s mathematical concept of The Game of Life, applied onto a Grasshopper definition, whose purpose is to unite and bring together ideas and people with similar concerns, so that they can interact, gain feedback and work, in an inspiring environment. We focused on creating a new tool inspired by the anxieties we are experiencing as members of Generation Z. Our goal was to understand how the views of the younger generation could affect the wider population, design, and behavior of people in general. This conceptual ground describes not only a way of thinking, but also a way of producing space and architecture. Log in, are you a watcher or a player?
Typologies There is a choice of learning, workshops and design spaces that are separated into 3 categories each -individual, group and open space options. Each different combination of the clusters creates a region that tackles a similar theme with different initiatives, so similar ideas can have feedback and evolve.

Arcadia, a utopian world where the boundaries between reality and imagination, past and future, life and death are indistinguishable. Inspired by this idea, we attempted, as a team, to give our personal interpretations of the idyllic Arcadian world in modern reality. The results of this research, highlighted the need to redefine our everyday life with a nostalgic look at history and tradition. The derivative was 12 different elements combined into a single entity with multiple textures. Aristotle University of Thessaloniki 2017 Under the guidance of Anastasios Tellios

This column is the theme of our installation. With vertical arrangement that refers to the four elements of nature (earthwater-fire-air), each piece of it is a translation of Arcadia through our eyes. The consistent base of the column incorporates textures of the natural landscape of Greece. It takes the form of minerals and rocks that are transformed into linear motifs found in fertile cultivated soils (tobaccos). An olive tree stems from the earth, giving the impression of vegetation hat grows and knits, creating surfaces, a source of inspiration for the construction of the original habitation (hut). Continuing upward, the motifs swiftly alternate at the rate of a merry dance until they lose their density, giving their place to the liquid transparent element. Moving on, the absolute degradation occurs due to the fire. In the capital of the column, we place the aerial-ethereal element, light as the feathers of a bird that overcomes gravity. They end up in the capital, to reincarnate to a timeless earthly value, that of salt, in the form of crystals that shine, as if they as projections of the astral bodies on the celestial veil.
SOCIAL & ECOLOGICAL SYSTEMS
The thesis explores the building as an ecosystem composed of different systems, assessing multiple environmental conditions, together with indicators of human health, in order to establish relationships between environmental, material and human factors. The analysis focuses on next-generation construction technology for a sustainable built environment and on the need to accelerate innovations in new architectural systems capable of harnessing local ecological energy and integrating better with human and physical systems. EOS
The focus of this project was the use of digital fabrication via computational design for the creation of a series of parametric proposals on interactive and kinetic morphologies. Eos (Ηώς) is an architectural prototype that was developed and fabricated; the design process explored the limits and correlations between architectural design, technical expertise and modern digital construction. Cultural and environmental elements were integrated in the design highlighting a number of topics of contemporary reflection. An agile workspace Today, adaptability in the workplace is hugely important. This is being reflected in policies that allow staff to work remotely and a movement towards a culture that recognises the different generations that now share the workplace. This blending of experiences aims to inspire and connect by igniting a new working culture. The architecture creates an immersive journey in shaping new ways to collaborate.
