can understand the emotional rollercoaster and how draining it can be on your physically and mentally so I have decided to put together this article to help you make it through these stages with your sanity, self and health intact. Here are five tips to manage stress during pregnancy, post-partum and then on your return to work.

First: Rest and enjoy the moments with yourself, baby and or children. Sometimes we get so caught up in the business of life. Sometimes we forget to stop and just savour the tiny moments to treasure with our kids when they get playful when and for example hold onto the broom when we have to get the house cleaned and them to bed. I admit, I’ve been guilty of that. Many times. Getting caught up in my long list of things to do, getting caught up in the worries of the future. Yet, the present is a beautiful gift and so every now and then just stop and savour even just for a few minutes, that mischievous glint in your child’s eye after you catch him drawing on the wall.

Stop and admire the smile, when your son tries to dance with the broom you are trying to sweep with. The more you stay in the present and give yourself the rest, the pause to enjoy the moments, the more joy, and peace you have and the less stress you allow into your life. Also stop, take an occasional power nap, once in a while. Stop and enjoy the movements of the baby in your belly, the miracle of your body growing with new life and then returning (sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly ) back to size after the birth, enjoy that child discovering his food and making the 100th mess for you to clean, maybe join in with the fun. It’s a blessing to have children, stop and savour your blessings.

You know, there is that saying that joy shared is double the joy and sorrow shared is half the burden. Well, that saying is true! So when you have troubles bombarding you, you find your list just keeps on getting longer or you are dealing with grief or loss, find someone to share this with. Find someone to help you carry that burden. Find someone who may have already walked that path and help you walk that path safely, let you know that you are normal and help you with see the light at the end of the tunnel. Keeping the stress buried and to yourself, let’s it fester, talk about it with someone, release it, diminish it, share your burdens.

3. Eat well Food is so critical to our wellbeing. Everything you ingest becomes a part of your body. Everything you put into your mouth literally becomes a part of you! So given this, what do you want to be made of? Life giving and alive food or over cooked nutrient lacking fast food that has become so prominent in our society? Choose wisely what you fuel your body with because it becomes you, it fuels your ability to be present and do all that you would like to do. It fuels your ability to give to yourself and give to your family and friends. Do you want to be present? Do you want to be able to truly move and enjoy your time with your loved ones and family? Do you want to feel good while you are doing that? It is possible. It is possible if you simply choose to put into your mouth life giving foods.

Exercise is one of the easiest ways to pick up your mood. Go for a walk out, go to your favourite gym and challenge yourself or get up and dance with your kids. Whichever you can fit it, the energy you expend, directly causes your body to release endorphins..which basically means you feel happier. 5. Keep yourself hydrated Water is the foundation of your body. Water is the foundation of your brain. When you are low on water, this may lead to your brain to misfire, for you to think incorrectly. When you are low on water, you body is trying to make do with what it has which isn’t enough. When you are hydrated, you will notice a difference in how your body feels and in your emotions. Water, a simple remedy to increase your joy, and decrease your stress. These 5 simple things yet so critical to your success as you chart through your pregnancy, delivery and post partum. Honour yourself, your children, your family and friends by taking care of
