Top Mountains to Climb

Being someone who loves to travel, I've always been fascinated with mountain climbing so as I work on climbing my personal mountain to self development and my wealth mountain to ﬁnancial freedom, I worked on creating my bucket list, and included these ﬁve mountains that, God willing, I will enjoy climbing before I die. As I researched and chose, it was a refeshing to be reminded that how you climb is more important than reaching the top, it's a team sport and preparation is key. The 5 mountains that made the cut ( in no particular order/ranking) for my bucket list are:

1) Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

I've always been in love with this mountain. It may be because my husband is from Rwanda, one of the the countries next door to Tanzania where this mountain is found or it maybe I had several friends who have climbed it and had an amazing experience, it's hard to say, yet this is one mountain that I would consider climbing twice! Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain with the highest peak, Uhuru, is 19,340 feet (5,899 meters) high. I've listed as my first one to conquer as I've heard you don't need much climbing equipment and a physically fit novice climber can climb Kilimanjaro in about five days.

2) Mount Everest, Nepal

How can you make a list of mountains to climb without including Mount Everest? Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth rising 29,035 feet (8856 meters) above sea level. Only approx 2500 people have conquered this mountain and it is often considered a great mountaineering achievements to do so. Mount Everest is located in the Himalayas of Nepal and China and because it is considered an extremely diﬃcult mountaineering expedition, this will likely be one of the last mountains I climb out of the 5. 3) The Andes, Peru

The Andes, series of extremely high plateaus surmounted by even higher peaks stretching 5,500 miles (8,900 kilometres) is considered one of the great natural features of the Earth. The highest peak is Mount Aconcagua at 22,831 feet (6,959 metres) on the border of Argentina and Chile. When you climb the Andes, you can expect a variety of ecosystems, from plains to desert to tropical cloud forests. Being from the Caribbean myself, I'm excited to experience more of the beauty of South America when climbing this mountain.

4) The Matterhorn, Switzerland

I've visited Switzerland once before and fell in love with the people and the beauty so had to include the Matterhorn on my list. It is located in the Alps and is considered the most well known mountain on the European continent and looks like a roughly chiseled rock pyramid. It's is one of the most popular mountain to climb with a height of 14,692 feet (4,478 meters). There is a climbing route for every skill level. If you're a beginner, you can take the popular Horni Ridge or Lion routes which has ﬁxed ropes, huts and ladders. Alternatively, if you're more skilled, you can tackle a more diﬃcult route such as the Zmutt, North Face or Furggen Ridges.

Last and most deďŹ nitely not least is the Annapurna. I chose this one because I've heard the sheer geological and cultural diversity of the region is hard to beat. There are actually six peaks in the Annapurna Range with highest peak beingÂ 26,493 feet (8,075.07 meters). The more popular peak is the famous Thorung La standing at 17,559 feet (5368 meters). You can expect to trek through many Nepalese villages, including several with whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets. So there are the 5 mountains that I've added to my bucket list to climb.
