Experimental photography

The purpose of this assignment is to: Extend your creative and technical skills in investigative approaches to manipulating photographic materials, processes, procedures and subject matter. You will develop an understanding of how photographic imagery can be manipulated and challenged. You will be introduced to skills in and knowledge of a variety of lens-based technologies and processes for image making. You will explore the potential of this area in response to given themes / briefs. Scenario A book on experimental photography is to be published. The author is looking for images to go into the book that explore the creative possibilities of both lens based and non lens based photographic practices. The book will be used as an inspirational source for students of photography on a range of art courses. You have been invited to submit images for consideration. Week / Task 1 Lesson time: Exploring the possibilities of Shutter speed settings and long exposures on the DSLR camera – ‘Bulb’ setting, multiple exposure, movement, light. Outside lesson time / homework: Recording / evaluating practical work (Journal / Tumblr). Artist research / links.
