The Portofino Story

Alexander Rose introduced this outstanding furniture collection in 2012, made of wire

Portofino Frames

Our mild steel begins with a phosphate treatment to prevent corrosion. Next is a cathodic dip where a layer of primer is evenly applied, followed by a metallic grey powder coating, resulting in a stylish finish.

The design challenge was to transform the shapes of the Ocean furniture into the steel tube and wire mesh fused form. This was a great technical achievement, and by reproducing our own established designs in different materials, we have given the Portofino range a whole new character of its own, with its impressive diamond mesh

Rose-Sling

Our Rose-Sling is a tough synthetic fabric made of PVC coated polyester. It has specially formulated yarns that withstand UV fading, mildew and severe weather conditions. The Rose-Sling is used on our new armchair.

Lounge Cushion The lounge cushions are plain grey polyester with a weight of 230gsm. We have a selection of scatter cushions in 6 colours to add a splash of colour (see page 35).

The decorative grey patterned fabric is spun polyester, weight 330gsm. The plain grey fabric is 230gsm.

Portofino Lite Frames

Our Portofino furniture will look great in any setting and for this 2015 catalogue we have

The Lounge cushions are plain grey on both sides and there is a choice of 6 scatter cushions to create a splash of colour.

Our two Gazebos use 250gsm polyester fabric for the roof and 180gsm polyester fabric for the curtains, both pieces of fabric are in Ecru. The frame is constructed in alumium and is powder coated to prevent corrosion, which makes it perfect for outdoor use.

Maintenance & Technical Information Steps

Powder Coating

The Process The Alexander Rose Portofino range is built from mild steel, treated with two layers of powder coating for a smooth and metallic finish. Our Portofino range has one layer of rust protection, a layer of primer and two layers of powder coating treatment. All these treatments result in a silver grey finish that is weather resistant. Powder coating the frames twice provides an effective layer of skin for the furniture, protecting it against small scratches.
