In a rocky area of Foz do Porto it was suggested a bar that was supposed to obey a module of 3x3m. The aim is to create a relationship between the rocks, the ocean, and the proposal so that the project integrates into the landscape and becomes part of it. The bar area is protected by the large rocky outcrop while the created platforms embrace the outcropping leading people to a new space to be in contact with the ocean.

The eastern part of the city of Porto shows urgency to be requalified, but also a growing need for new equipment that can promote its development. This academic project thus appears as an opportunity to intervene in this context. In the two areas separated by the avenue of Paiva Couceiro next to the Freixo's marina, it was requested a proposal for a nautical center that would have a sports, cultural and housing component. It was decided to programmatically distribute the floors and the volumes taking into account the characteristics of this equipment. In the lower level that joins the two areas and the one that passes under the avenue, there is the whole sports programme, the access to the residential building, as well as the warehouse and the access ramp to the river Douro. The programme also includes a cultural area in the two upper floors, so it has been tried to open the volume to the created square what liberated and fought against the density of the existing volumes in this area and, in a certain way, succeeded in separating the cultural area from the sports area. It is also intended, through the created platforms, in articulation with the volumes, to privilege the visual relationship with both the Douro River and the Tinto River.

A.03 REHABILITATION OF PALAZZO CAFISI Favara, Sicily

37°18'50.4"N 13°39'39.6"E

In the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Palermo, the rehabilitation of the Palazzo Cafisi was proposed, a 19th-century building in Favara, which was at a high level of degradation. The main problem was the adaptation of the programme to the spaces so that a hostel could be created in the building. Due to the irregular characteristics of the spaces, I have decided to adapt the bunk beds to the spaces rather than use conventional ones. Respecting the given theme "Sleep and Dream", on the third floor, the main space was defined. It was suggested to reconstruct the roof and a skylight was designed to allow the entrance of zenith light, with direct incidence under the proposed installation connected to the theme.

PROJECT OF EXPANSION OF CASA DE DOCIM

41°26'34.3"N 8°08'49.9"W

Quinchães, Fafe

From the beginning my intention was to develop the project having in mind a sustainable expansion, based on the use of existing resources, seeking to add value to the Farm, called Casa de Docim, which is a farm dedicated to rural tourism, but also to respond to the local needs, contributing to the dynamism of the village. Therefore, was proposed the construction of new streets that are in articulation to the existing ones; a sports area with a soccer field and another hybrid field that simultaneously allows the practice of tennis and basketball; the improvement of the existing car parking, the development of an agricultural area, orchard and new green areas that can provide new spaces. Starting from the family's desire to create a space where the bookcases could be housed, a new library, a small auditorium, and a multi-purpose room were proposed. Thus, a new semi-buried volume emerges in continuity with the path and guarantees a visual outlook that exploits the landscape potential of the surrounding territory. The objective was to keep this logic of paths that organize different accesses to the entire Farm, with the development of a new building that intends and desires a formal and functional integration into the landscape and the place, which, in addition to responding to our needs as a private entity, social responsibility and public character were also considered. It is intended that these new building could also be used by students of the village supplying the existing lack of infrastructures.
