INTEGRATING THE URBAN PLAN AND TRANSPORTATION PATH PURPOSE: ACADEMIC PROJECT: INDIVIDUAL YEAR OF URBANISTICS: 3rd DATE: 15.12.2018 TEACHER: PURIFICACIÓN DÍAZ CONTACT: purificacion.diaz@upc.edu ROLE: DESIGN A PASSAGE TO ENHACE THE GREEN PUBLIC SPACES OF THE TOWN

The projects aim was to provide the town of Corbera de Llobregat with more public spaces and green areas. One of the concerns was to create a new public square, which would better fit the needs of the growing city. Amongst other qualities, this urbanistic intervention would have to serve as a link between the separate districts of the city and would help revitalize the abandoned banks of the small river, which crosses the town. The approach to this was found in analyzing the specific needs of the three districts, and curating a public space targeted to their lacking, such as a parking spaces, sports center, play areas and a centering public square. Finally, by reworking the circulation paths of the city, the carbon vehicules would have been greatly diminished to allow green means of transportation such as bicycles paths and pedestrian roads.

INDUSTRIAL
ART AND TIMBER MANUFACTURE
ROLE: DESIGN OF AN INDUSTRIAL SITE COMBINING TWO DIFERENT SCALES AND PURPOSES
The commission of the project was to facilitate the spaces of a wood manufacture industry. By doing so, it had to allow enough space for heavy machinery, deposit and pickup of large wood beams and storage of raw material. Furthermore, these new spaces needed to allow for a more touristic use of the facilities: it would serve as a visitor center, an exposition hall and an artistic performance space. Another key element of the building was the containing wall the premises had to incorporate. Located within a valley in a mountainous region, the approach to the project was to recreate the landscape inside the facility. In additiong to having to accommodate two largely different scales, one of the important aspects of the building was to not disrupt the eye line. With this idea, the whole project sits beneath one roof, periodically pierced to allow the entering of light, or sometimes extruded to mark the emplacement of key zones. The natural light served as a materiality, bouncing of the surfaces to create contrasting atmospheres and moments. Inspired by the core use of the building, the textures in use are aimed to reflect the rawness of the manufacture. Therefore, a concrete molding with visible wood slab is meant to recall the wood and serve as tribute to the exploitation of the resource.

ROLE: DESGIN OF HOUSING UNITS, GENERAL VOLUMETRIC IN RELATION WITH THE URBAN CONTEXT
This project is located in the interior capital of Catalun-
12 ya and so, had to related with some of its important fea-
tures. The Seu Vella of Lleida, is one the marvels of the region and sits as the highest point of the city. Therefore, this social housing tower would be in direct relation to the landmark, by becoming the second highest build of the city. Taking this in account, the inital idea was to maka a cut within the volumetry of a simple extruded tower, from south to north. This cut allowed direct views to the landmark , but permits aswell for the entering of light and air creating an inner suspended garden, and ventilating the appartments. The challenging aspect of this intial geometry was to work with spaces that intergrate the corners. This issue was solved by creating balconies in the corners and the core of the building was reserved to utilitarian fonctions, such as bathrooms, stairs and corridor. The construction details follows as similar logic, with the interrior walls of the slit being structural and the rest of building supported by a slab-posts technique. The intersitices within the tower allowed for friendly neighbourhood exchange , and the elevation of the nature present in front of the project. To sum up, the whole project stand to reconnect it’s inhabitant with the historical beauty of the city, by paying tribute to the Seu Vella, and to present them with the most inviting and comfortable atmosphere possible within a tower build.

ROLE: DESIGN OF THE VOLUMES, CHOSING MATERIALS AND CREATING OF THEMODEL
16 The Gaudi Art Center is based in a natural landscape at the Colonia Guell. As the project is situated in a park, maintaining the stroll-like aspect of its original site was the base of this project. From this walk, the curve shaped form has emerged. The main argument behind it was to promote views, natural light or natural ventilation. Driving its inspiration behind Gaudi’s approach and from SANAA’s Grace Farms project, the building tries to guide its visitors through a series of vistas. Its ribbon like shape is greatly transparent to enhance the views of the surrounding nature as well as to bring in natural light. As we proceed uphill in the project, the building integrates with the landscape to form semi-buried spaces. The most secluded part of the project, the artists residences, is completely buried underground to increase privacy and insulate from climate and the surrounding noises, such as the school nearby. Sustainablity was as key element to the constructive aspect of the project. Therefore, the walls were created with the excavated soil form the site, allowing for almost no soil waste and efficient green roofs, maintaining the park as the star of the project.

ROLE: INTEGRAL DESIGN OF THE CHALET ON EARLIER DESIGNED AND LAYERED FUNDATIONS. VOLUMES,TEXTURES, SPACING AND DRAWINGS.
This family house was a commission for a one child family looking to reconstruct their home from the foundations up. Therefore, the original foundations had to be kept and be taken into consideration in the design of the new built. The orientation of the residence was crucial and lead to the development of an L shape form, centering the house on the garden. This allowed the interior to spill toward the exterior allowing for a deeper connection with the extensive terrain on which the project is held. Furthermore, the previous construction had an interior design that was aimed to a more classical style, which had to be completely reversed to a more modern interior and exterior. Consequently, these conditions lead to the development of a one story high house, with horizontal lines and distribution.

26 The project was a comission from the car making company SEAT. The enterprise asked us students to come up with a fresh idea that should combine the use of a future electric shared vehicle with people’s daily life activities. The location of te project was already set and gave us the chance to interact with two green areas, an important shopping mall and an upcoming neighbourhood still filled with old industries. My project seeks to unite the two green areas by creating a streched out and inclinated park which enriches the quality of life for future habitants as it creates a space underneeth for future commercial purposes. The main building has a residencial caracter as it includes the future SEAT apartments. All these spaces interact with the car sharing purposes as well as the mechanical intallations.
