Type Specimen | Volume 1
Introduction This unique Monotype type specimen series explores a type family as if it were a real family. With each weight being an individual member of that family, we show off the beauty of the typeface through an interview. In the center you will find a small book on the rich history of Monotype.

“The lowercase ‘e’ is what I adore the most. It is said that you get the ‘e’ right when it looks like it’s smiling, and the one in Metro Nova is exceptionally joyful — one that makes me smile, too.” Toshi Omagari
After that lovely interview with the Stempel Garamond family, we had the pleasure of having the very large, but just as exceptional Metro Nova family join us. First of all guys, I would just like to mention what a nice smile you all have…

So guys, tell us a bit about yourselves‌
Well, being a sans serif family, we are all naturally playful and the fact that we are such a large family means there is always something going on. Unusually for a big family, we all get along together and compliment each other in different ways. See for yourself, we are all really x-heighted to be here.
Oww, stop it! Oh will you two stop f*#!ing around and behave yourselves for once!
No‌ Liar! I’m not, she's always lying. Stop annoying your sister for Gutenberg’s sake, or I will kern your heads together!
Q. What are some of your finer attributes? We believe it is important to look good wherever we are, be that in print or just casually on the web, we are a very hardworking family and our alternate characters mean we have a look for every occasion. One of the family honours is our small caps, they are finely
proportioned with great detail taken in getting the look just right. We are very proud of that. The little ones love the web, it’s very popular these days. Even us oldies work well on screen, which is a great asset to the family.
Mum! Look what I can do hahahaha‌
