EXCELLENCE IS A PRODUCT OF INTENTION

Excellence is a culmination of the right choices made for the right reasons. Its aim is not only to satisfy, but also to delight. For a boat to be excellent, it must deliver on all levels, through technological advances that instill pride and confidence, and design choices that ensure comfort and contentment. Performance, convenience, innovation, ease — Sea Ray calibrates these qualities for maximum impact, producing a luxury sport boating experience unlike any other: The SLX Experience. PRESIDENT'S LETTER SPRI N G 2016

Welcome to MarineMax Lifestyles There’s something about a New Year that makes us want to improve the quality of our lives. Many of us promise ourselves that we will live a healthier lifestyle, spend more time with family and friends, work less and play more. But before we know it, old patterns repeat themselves and life gets hectic and complicated. As a member of the MarineMax family, you are already aware how the boating lifestyle enhances your life and your relationships. The excitement of planning outings with your family and friends and spending quality time with them is a very healthy and natural stress reliever. You can’t help but notice that people start to engage with each other. The cell phone and electronic devices suddenly aren’t that important. When I am out visiting our stores and attending boat shows, I often encounter our customers and they share how the boating

THE R ISE O F STERNGAT I NG DID YOU KNOW THAT THE BEST TAILGATING EVENTS DON’T EVEN TAKE PLACE ON LAND? YOU DO NOW.

Forget baseball, tailgating may be the new great American pastime. There are few things more enjoyable than gathering up your crew, setting up shop in your favorite team’s parking lot, and then cracking open the cooler and firing up the grill. It’s a simple pleasure that’s not only fun— it is often the genesis of tradition, something to be passed down from generation to generation. But here’s

You use a more compact rod for ice fishing than regular fishing. It is shorter and the reel is smaller,” he notes. Some people like to use tip-ups when ice fishing. These small devices dangle bait in the water and a spring loaded flag “tips up” once a fish bites, letting you know when it’s time to get to start reeling. Take it to the next level, and you can also purchase tip-ups that will alert you on your smartphone via Bluetooth technology. Just as with summer boating there is a variety of electronics you can purchase to assist you in finding the perfect spot and the fish. Combination units include GPS and lake contours programmed into them. And don’t forget an auger to cut a hole in the ice! You can choose from gas-powered, propane and batterypowered augers. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages. For example, lithium ion battery augers are lighter and easier to get out on the ice but they are not as powerful.

THE N E X T BE ST T HIN G BOSTON WHALER 330 OUTRAGE

Every new model that Boston Whaler introduces benefits from the experience the designers, engineers and technicians gained from the previous generation, new technologies and most importantly the feedback from Boston Whaler owners. The Boston Whaler 330 Outrage is no exception. “Everything in this boat is intentional. Storage compartments right where you want them, walking space right where you need it, performance that never disappoints,” said Jeff Vaughn, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. “Our customers are incredibly savvy and have told us what their boating lives demand. Customer feedback has been instrumental in shaping the 330 Outrage.” The 330 Outrage was crafted to deliver a remarkably soft, dry ride that makes it inherently safer. The variabledeadrise deep V-hull is complimented by the full-length hard chines and lifting strakes that create a smooth ride and predictable and precise handling. “Boston Whaler designs every boat to be Confident to the Core, and the new 330 Outrage exemplifies this focus,” said Vaughn. “The 330 is impeccably constructed, balancing stability and softness in a way that no other boat manufacturer has achieved.” Fitted with a full, console to hardtop, windshied with power actuated vent, the 330 Outrage keeps the helmsman protected in inclement weather. Inside the console is a VacuFlush® toilet with holding tank equipped with an overboard discharge and dockside pump-out port. There is also a sink with pull out sprayer, storage cabinets, the circuit breaker panel, stereo and the remote ignition key switches. At the helm is the remote control for the stereo and pushbutton start for the standard twin 300 hp Mercury Verado outboards. Mercury Joystick Piloting with Skyhook station-keeping, twin 250 hp or twin 350 hp Mercury Verados are available as options.

"The 330 Outrage is a clear demonstration of Whaler's ongoing commitment to advancing comfort and seaworthiness."

There is major room in the aft cockpit for serious fish fighting. An aft-facing couch converts to form a leaning post, and houses an optional 40-gallon livewell. And, in one quick motion, the seat back slides up and flips down to reveal a large work surface, complete with stainless-steel grab rails and drink holders. Additional features include a wide, convertible aft bench, which folds completely out of the way to provide extra fish-fighting real estate; an optional teak cockpit table, which also stows neatly away when not in use; and a standard 50-gallon livewell behind the aft bench seat.

BOAT – IN MOVIE S THERE IS NOTHING MORE AMERICAN THAN FAMILY OR DATE NIGHT AT THE MOVIES, OUT ON THE WATER From the earliest days when motion pictures replaced vaudeville

Americans’

experience right through cool evenings at the drive-in with the walkie-talkie like speaker hanging from the car window to the 3-D thunder of today’s blockbuster at the multiplex, movies have held a special place in our hearts and our imaginations. Despite the migration to the individual screen on our laptops or tablets, we are not becoming a nation of nosepressed-to-the-glass Netflix junkies. We like to get out. We like to come together over the shared experience of the cinema. And if you are a boater, what could be better than combining the twin passions of the movies and boating. In short, nothing. It is the perfect combination, like hamburgers and fries, Abbott and Costello, Tracy and Hepburn. We don’t know the identity of the first person who thought of projecting a movie on huge floating screen on the water, but we know they were a genius. The combination has it all. A community of boaters coming together to be entertained in the great outdoors with the waves lapping the boats, the excited squeals and hushed voices of the children, and the flickering images of Hollywood projected across water and night sky. You will find plenty of boat-in movie nights at MarineMax locations across the country. The popularity just continues to grow because it taps into those wonderful impressions we all have in our collective brains of favorite movies seen in the company of favorite people.

BUFFALO CHICKEN WRAP Borrowing from the ever popular Buffalo Wings, these Buffalo Chicken wraps will quickly become a stern gating favorite. Make ahead, they are great cold or you can reheat in a microwave for a warm treat.

Ingredients 12 Oz. bottle of Crystal Hot Sauce 4 Oz. stick of salted butter 1 Tsp. garlic powder 3 Tsps. extra virgin olive oil 2 Lbs. skinless boneless chicken breasts, sliced 1 Tsp. pepper 8 10-inch flour tortillas 4 Cups shredded lettuce 2 Stalks of celery, diced 12 Oz. bottle of Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing

Directions In a small sauce pan pour in the entire bottle of Crystal Hot Sauce. On low heat add the stick of butter, and garlic power. Stir over heat until the entire stick is melted. Do not boil. When the butter is completely melted remove from heat. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and chicken strips, cook and stir until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices are clear. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour the hot sauce over the cooked chicken and stir to coat all the strips. Lay out the 8 tortillas on a flat surface. Place lettuce, celery and Marie's Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing in layers. Add the coated chicken strips and fold in two ends of the tortilla on top and roll the wrap burrito-style. Serve on plates, they can get a little messy.

BEER BARREL POLKA BRATWURST This simple recipe will get the gang fired up. The brats can be prepared ahead or in the galley. For this recipe you will need a marine grill like Magma’s ChefsMate Connoisseur series gas grill.

Ingredients 6 12 Oz. bottles or cans of beer 2 Large onions, thinly sliced 1 Cup of butter 1½ Tsps. of pepper 2 Lbs. fresh bratwurst 10 Hoagie rolls

Directions Poke the bratwurst with a fork several times to avoid the bratwurst from bursting while cooking. Pour the beer into a large stock pot with the bratwurst, onions, butter and pepper. Over medium heat simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. If preparing ahead let the bratwurst and onion cool and place in a sealable container and keep refrigerated until ready to grill. Lightly oil the grate of the grill. Place the bratwurst on the pre-heated grill searing the bratwurst, turning occasionally. Cook for 10 to 20 minutes. If possible, reheat the onions in foil alongside the bratwurst. Immediately serve the bratwurst and onion on a presliced hoagie roll. Serve with stone ground mustard. Turn on the polka music and enjoy.

VAMONOS CHIPS & SALSA This is a great make-ahead recipe for homemade chips and fresh salsa. Using fresh ingredients will assure the salsa is full of flavor, and distinctly different from the store-bought varieties.

Ingredients 2 Cups peanut oil 10 Medium flour tortillas 1 Tbsp. salt 8 Large ripe tomatoes 1 Medium green bell pepper, diced 1 Medium red onion, diced ½ Cup fresh cilantro 1 Medium fresh jalapeùo, chopped fine 1 Medium garlic clove, minced fine 1 Tsp. ground cumin 1 Tsp. ground black pepper 1 Medium lime, juiced

Directions In a large skillet pre-heat the peanut oil to 350 – 365 degrees. Slice the tortillas into eights forming wedges. Place the individual wedges into the hot oil for 1 minute. Turn the wedges over, cook for another 30 seconds. Remove from the hot oil when golden brown. Place on paper towels and salt to taste immediately. Repeat until all the wedges are cooked. Cut the tomatoes into quarters and remove seeds. Lightly salt the tomatoes and place in a colander to drain for 30 minutes. Finely dice the drained tomato quarters and place in a large bowl. Add the diced green pepper, diced red onion, chopped Jalapeno, minced cilantro, minced garlic, ground cumin, black pepper and the juice of 1 lime. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator. This recipe is great to make ahead because it is best served after the ingredients have a chance to blend overnight.

MarineMax will be offering two hardtop models, the Galeon 385 HTS and the 445 HTS. Both are express-style opens with hardtops featuring large opening sunroofs. In addition, MarineMax will offer four flybridge models ranging from the 39-foot Galeon 380 Fly to the 56-foot Galeon 550 Fly each featuring enclosed salons and large flybridge decks that extend over the cockpit area. Perfect for socializing underway. What Galeon calls a Skydeck model is essentially a smaller bridge deck set back to allow for a sunroof over the lower helm station. MarineMax will carry four Skydeck models from the 430 Sky to the 660 Sky. These models combine the amenity of a sunroof with the convenience of an upper helm station. “Another key factor for MarineMax partnering with Galeon is that Galeon works with their customers to create semi-custom handcrafted excellence. All Galeon Yachts are presented with a long list of options. Owners can highly configure their yacht to their tastes and needs making each Galeon Yacht as individual as its owner,” concluded Cashman.
