Tokai through the years . . . Tokai’s proven history of quality began back in early 1980 when it started producing instruments of staggering quality. The impact that these Japanese made instruments had on the Western markets ensured Tokai’s reputation amongst the top makers world wide. Tokai’s commitment to quality & precision remains the focus for this 3rd generation family-owned and operated company. Tokai’s workforce consists of senior craftsman and many talented luthier course graduates. Many well known players have chosen to play Tokai guitars in preference to other premium brands. Tokai’s 1985 guitar catalogue featured Stevie Ray Vaughan on the cover. Stevie is seen on his 1983 album “Texas flood” playing a Tokai “Breezy Sound”. Joe Walsh, Billy Gibbon, Robert Fripp, INXS’s Tim Farris and Stevie Ray Vaughan are just few in a long list of Tokai players. Your Tokai guitar is the result of years of experience and skill handed down through many decades. It has been afforded all of the patience and care it takes to build an instrument of outstanding quality. It truly is special. Take care of your Tokai Guitar, it may stay in your family for generations to come.

GU I TA R CA R E Wherever possible, simply use a slightly damp cloth to wipe over the body of the instrument after playing. Always remove any marks or liquids from your guitar, as these may contain substances that may damage your guitar’s finish. A quality guitar polish can be used to achieve a new glossy finish. Tip: keep another cloth for cleaning the finger board only. Be aware that exposure to intense heat or direct sunlight for extended periods (including leaving your guitar inside your car or in the boot) can cause serious damage! Your guitar’s finish will slowly expand and contract to changes in temperature, but sudden changes can cause the finish to crack. Acclimatize your guitar to different environments by leaving it in the case to slowly attain the room temperate before opening. Avoid impact to your guitar even when stowed in its case. The headstock of your guitar is under tension when tuned and is fragile, particularly when in transit.
Set up Your Tokai guitar comes set up to factory specifications prior to shipping. Action heights and string gauges may vary from model to model. Ask your Tokai dealer for advice on getting your Tokai set up to your own requirements. Timber can move over time altering the initial set up. We suggest taking your guitar to your Tokai dealer for periodical service and adjustment.
