Upon graduation, he served in the Special Forces unit in Southeast Asia where he received a Medal of Honor and two Bronze Stars for single handedly rescuing 34 P.O.W.s from a heavily guarded enemy compound. SCARLETT's father and three brothers were martial arts instructors. She began her training at age 9 and was awarded her first black belt at age 15. SCARLETT was one of the first female members of the G.I. JOE Team.

HEAD

BEACH HEAD was a Lane instructor at the Ranger School in Fort Benning and an Observer/Advisor at the Covert Ops School in Central America.

He’s meticulous, patient, and strong willed. BEACH HEAD likes getting up at 0600 hours to take a ten mile run and PT (Physical Training) session before breakfast. He enjoys squatting motionless beside a jungle trail for three days straight waiting to ambush bad guys who might never show up. What he hates are people who aren't interested in doing their best.

MARVEL

"Most folks will get mad on occasion or at least get irritable not BEACH HEAD. He thinks anger is a waste of time and energy. Rage clouds the vision and pollutes logic. Fury impairs judgment and makes you careless. The results of anger are totally unacceptable to BEACH HEAD. He doesn't get angry...he gets even."

MAINFRAME enlisted in the Army Airborne at the age of seventeen and made it over to South East Asia for the last year of hostilities, just in time to get his Combat Infantryman's Badge. He left the Army to get his degree from MIT on the G. I. Bill and did a stint toiling in the antiseptic corridors of Silicon Valley making big bucks and fighting off boredom with a stick. Luckily, the Marines were looking for a few good men with just his qualifications. The proper papers were signed, and MAINFRAME was back in uniform.

"Too much of the modern battlefield is computer coordinated not to have a computer specialist right out there in the field with you. Problem is, most hackers don't exactly fit the combat profile.

MAINFRAME is the exception. He was ten years older than the next oldest trainee at Parris Island and he still finished at the top ten of the class. He's got brains but he's hard."

"When SCI FI braces his weapon and sights in on a target, he becomes a rock no discernible movement of any kind. Birds perch on top of his helmet. He transcends mere stillness to another plane of immobility. You don't even see the trigger finger move. It's like he wills that beam of light to stab the darkness..."

SCI FI lives in a slow motion world. He takes everything real easy, and he's never in a hurry to get anywhere or do anything. But that's what it takes to be a laser rifleman. At a range of 2 1/2 miles, the impact spot of laser light will jump one hundred feet for every one thousandth of an inch movement at the source. That spot has got to be held on target long enough to burn through that source, otherwise it's no more harmful than a warm breeze.

FLINT was a Rhodes Scholar and earned his degree in English Lit. Bored by the Groves of Academe, he enlisted in the Army and applied the tenacity and concentration he had used so well scholastically to grind his way through Airborne School, Ranger School, Special Forces School, and finally Flight Warrant Officers School... Graduating each with top honors. A thorough tactical planner, Flint drafted and personally led a half dozen rescue missions in hostile territories that for obvious reasons of security were never publicized let alone admitted to.

As a child in North Dakota, LOW LIGHT was afraid of the dark, timid with animals, and shy of loud noises...until one precarious hunting expedition with his father. LOW LIGHT somehow lost his way in the impenetrable darkness. He was found three weeks later with his flashlight, .22 rifle, and a grin from ear to ear. Ten years later he was an instructor at the Army Marksmanship program in Fort Benning and a self taught expert on image intensification.

RECONDO hates the cold. He loves hauling a rucksack through the bush and sweating through his cammies. When he's in the jungle, he owns it. Anybody else is trespassing. Cadre member at Jungle Warfare Training Center

He has been flying prop jets and helicopters since he was 17 years old. Naturally, when he enlisted in the Army, he immediately put in for helicopter training. RECONDO served with the 7th Airmobile Assault Unit.

ASST OPS & INTELLIGENCE SERGEANT PATHFINDER

By growing up in the alligator infested swamplands of southern Florida, PATHFINDER quickly learned how to find his way around in order to stay alive! With his father's help, PATHFINDER mastered the ways of jungle survival. He learned how to make trails where there were none, to detect unnatural jungle sounds, and to attack unsuspecting targets swiftly and quietly. When he was eighteen, PATHFINDER enlisted in the Army and began a career as a jungle recon specialist. Almost immediately, he became the Army's premiere jungle/rain forest tactical assault expert.

BOMBSTRIKE

BOMBSTRIKE always hits her target, whether it's scoring a goal in soccer or calling in the correct coordinates for an air strike. She's at the leading edge of the action, her eyes taking in all the details and calculating what will give her team the winning move of the day. In soccer, where it's only a game, she's a gracious loser. But it's different in battle, where lives are at stake. That's when BOMBSTRIKE plays to win, with focused intensity and uncompromising courage.

TUNNEL RAT

TUNNEL RAT's family tree is Trinidadian Chinese with branches of Irish, Spanish, and Indian thrown in. He grew up mean on the streets of Brooklyn, got tough on the Ranger Course at Fort Benning, and honed his skills in Grenada. He is a qualified expert with all NATO small arms and is familiar with most Warsaw Pact explosive devices.

"TUNNEL RAT believes that anything that doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. His feeling about crawling into an enemy tunnel with a knife in one hand, a pistol in the other, and a flashlight in his mouth is simple he can shoot straighter, bite harder, and run faster than anything he's ever encountered in a tunnel, so why worry."

"LIGHTFOOT has elevated being careful to an artform. You might say he's a Zen fussbudget. His eyes sweep the ground before him in measured quadrants, alert for tripwires, signs of digging, and out of place vegetation. He sniffs the air for that tell tale plastic explosive smell of 'dead rubber.' LIGHTFOOT may take twice as long to clear an area, but at least you won't get any nasty surprises."

Fifty percent of any military manual on distances, power requirements for firing circuits, and formulas for cutting structural steel, timber, and breaching various forms of bunker material. LIGHTFOOT has memorized all of them, as well as all the conversion tables for foreign and non military explosives. He's not taking any chances...

SHIPWRECK

ASST AUTO RIFLEMAN / ANTI-ARMOR

SHIPWRECK grew up in the shadow of the Navy, specifically the shadow of the sprawling San Diego Navy Yards. He enlisted at the youngest possible age with his parents' permission and proceeded to serve with distinction in the Mekong Delta where hand to hand fighting with river pirates, smugglers, and insurgents was the order of the day.

Put in time at "Gitmo" and Yokosuka and was on hand at certain carrier initiated operations in the Middle East. Graduated Naval Gunnery School Great Lakes.
