About My main goal as an industrial
design student is to practice using different creative methods to solve problems in design. Coming from a different cultural background, I’m bringing diverse ideas to the team. I’m looking for opportunities to do more exploration in the process of creating.

chair
A chair is a piece of furniture with a raised surface, commonly used to seat a single person and is most often supported by four legs and a back.
“quiet, quirky The design challenge began by being given two words that philosophically or physically describe the direction and became a starting point for my exploration. The other driver of the design was the limitation of one primary or dominant material with minimal use of other materials. The words I was randomly given were quiet and quirky, and I chose to use metal as construction material cd
Using the load bearing property of the metal, I chose to fold sheet metal in half to create the sitting plane. The dual planes add a dynamic visual and functionality to the chair. The sitting plane is 20 inches tall above the ground.
The sitting plane remains horizontal when not in use.
The flexion of the metal creates a slight angle to improve the ergonomics when the chair is in use.
Scale Model The construction of a quarter size model helped me better understand the properties of the material and order of operations. The front and side profile of the chair represent the quiet elements. When downward force is applied, the two planes touch and create a “ping sound, adding quirkiness to the chair.

track shoes +
Track shoes (distance) have a more flexible spike plate with less taper and fewer spikes. Because of the longer race distances, support through the mid-foot and heel is as important as efficiency . This means that distance spikes generally have a softer, more durable sole, particularly through the heel region.

User Identity For professional track runners, the grip, fit, weight, flexibility and support of the shoes can be the deciding factors of the race. Most runners select their shoes very carefully to prevent injury. Also a stylish pair of shoes will give the runner an opportunity to express their individuality. Most running shoes are designed to give the wearer optimal cushion and support for 300 to 500 miles or three to six months.
Form Refinement and Branding Study I used the side profile of the shoe to explore form and branding language. I eventually narrowed it down to three choices. I also used this stage of the design process to consider shoe materials. Growing up wearing LI-NING, I have always been fascinated by their work. So not only exploring the form, but also study the brand language is one crucial part of this project.

The LI-NING spike track shoe is designed to give the runner a lock-in ankle support. The sock-like collar provides stability while having maximum breatheability. It also features rear lacing for increased aerodynamics.
cordless vacuum
A vacuum cleaner, also known as a sweeper, is a device that uses an air pump (a centrifugal fan in all but some of the very oldest models), to create a partial vacuum to suck up dust and dirt, usually from floors, and from other surfaces such as upholstery and draperies.
The prompt of this project was to design a future upright cordless vacuum cleaner. It started with an drawing exercise in one of the perspective and rendering class, to bring this project further, I begun with looking at the current existing products on the market, and...
“What makes a vacuum cleaner fit in to a modern home? In the vacuum cleaner world, manufacturers tirelessly present the functionality and versatility of their products. However, when vacuums are being mass produced, many aspects can be ignored. The aesthetic and how they fit in a modern interior are two of them.
Branding Study One of the design challenges for this project is to implement a brand language into the vacuum cleaner, I chose to learn from the master. Braun’s product is known for its simple functional beauty. Braun uses minimum design to create long-lasting product, every part of the product is honest and useful. Pictures below are product of Braun by Dieter Ram. Braun SM 31 sixtant shaver (left) and Nizo S8 L(right).
Unlike the conventional vertical style grip, the horizontal grip allows more griping surfaces. And also implementing fabric into the hardware.
Cordless Vacuum charging port.
Power button is located on the suction cap, the vacuum can be turned on and off by user stepping on it.
The ventilation of the vacuum is placed on the top portion of the body. The handle is designed to be held horizontally for better comfort and dexterity.
cardboard vessel
A vessel is a hollow container, it can be a container, receptacle, basin, box, bowl, pan, pot, basket, urn, tank, barrel, drum, vat, or a vase. This utilitarian object is often used for more than one specific task which makes it more universal in its applications.
“chip bag The design challenge was to create a vessel using single sided corrugated cardboard. After experimenting with the material, the corrugation of the cardboard reminded me of Ruffle chips, so I decided to do more explorations. The three main problems I found with the current chip packaging are ...
