Rotary Club of Groton, NY MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION & APPLICATION Requirements of Membership Prospective members must: • hold, or be retired from, a professional, proprietary, executive, or managerial position; • meet the club's attendance and community project participation requirements; and • be an individual, man or woman, of good character and good professional reputation. The Membership Process Often a person being considered for membership is invited by a sponsoring member to attend one or more club meetings to learn more about Rotary. The sponsor may then submit the name of the candidate to the club's membership committee or Board of Directors. Anyone interested in membership who does not know any local Rotarians should start by reviewing the local club directory of Members & Officers at www.grotonrotaryclub.org or contact the Club at the above address or by email to joeurda@millenicom.com A member of the Club will contact you. Responsibilities Expectations Of Members Active Participation: Every member is obliged to support the Club’s community service activities including fund raising and volunteer service on projects designated by the club. In addition every member is expected to serve on at least one Club committee. Meeting Times and Place: We meet on every Thursday at the Elm Tree Inn at 6:15 p.m., on the Square in McLean, NY. Dinner cost is estimated including tax and tip $15.00 per person. There are times that the venue may change. Notice will be given. Annual Dues: Membership dues are $100.00 per year. This amount can be paid in two installments. Annual dues cover dues to District 7170 member assessment, Rotary International assessment, monthly subscription to The Rotarian magazine and Club administrative costs. Dues semi-annually or annually and are payable by check to "Groton Rotary Club”. Attendance: Members are expected to participate in at least 60% of meetings either through attendance at our Club meetings or by attending meetings at other Rotary Clubs throughout the United States and around the world. Attendance at club or District projects will also count as a make-up meeting. With the advent of the Internet there is an E-Club at http://www.rotaryeclubone.org/. Leaves of Absence: Leaves of absence can be granted by approval by the Board of Directors by contacting the Board directly in person or in writing. Application: Prospective members are invited to attend a club meeting by a local club member. The prospective member will then be proposed for membership and upon being accepted will be invited to join Rotary. An application will be filled out with the application fee of $10.00 in addition to at least half of the annual dues.
