Brief
Background
Deliverables
To brand and package nostalgia in a novelty way to evoke a sense of happiness upon the user. The process of nostalgia, as proven by studies, has positive psychological effects such as an increase in mood and self esteem. Nostalgia provides a break from reality therefore I aim to target those who lead a busy lifestyle and seek time to relax or those simply wanting a novelty gift to lift their spirits.
Nostalgia is a memory, a thought process we can access anywhere. Childhood memories represent the times when we were free from the anxieties and responbilities of adulthood.

Iconography
Minimal type treatment with a duplicate letter ‘O’ to create a thought bubble. The green references the health benefit of using nostalgia.
Green is seen as a positive and uplifting colour, most commonly associated with health, particularly first aid. When printed commercially, this will be a spot colour (Pantone 368 U) for both coated and uncoated stock due to similar outcomes.
Icons will be used to reference the 5 senses in the nostalgia pack, on the packaging itself and in the insert.

Print considerations
Sweets packaged in conventional, medicinal packaging to promote the health and psychological benefits of nostalgia. The packaging contains sweets which are reminiscent of our childhood. Nostalgia can be accessed anywhere and everywhere and this range of nostalgic medicine will remind consumers/recipients that nostalgia can be used as break from day-to-day life and routine.

90s Nostalgia Pack
Print methods
The nostalgia pack contains 5 objects reminiscent of a particular decade. Nostalgia can be instigated by any of our 5 primary senses, with smell and touch being the most receptive. Using this basis, I devised a segmented box design which packaged 5 objects that, in this case, related to the 90s. I intended to juxtapose the minimal packaging with the fun and childlike contents.

As I want to convey that nostalgia provides a break from day-to-day life and can simply be ‘used’ to make us happy, I devised a small handout which would be handed out in busy, public areas in order to provoke thought.
