Jaipur • Agra • Vrindavan Jaipur is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber, after whom the city has been named. The city today has a population of 3.1 million. Jaipur is known as the Pink City of India. The observatory, Jantar Mantar, is one of the World Heritage Sites. Agra It is a major tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era buildings, most notably the Tāj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpūr Sikrī, all three of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Vrindavan It is the site of an ancient forest which is the region where, according to the Mahabharata, the deity Krishna spent his childhood days, Krishna's birthplace. The town hosts hundreds of temples dedicated to the worship of Radha and Krishna
