ABOUT ME

As an individual, the field of Design is new to me and I have a lot to learn. As a Creative, I have quite a bit of experience to my name; I am a professional dancer, I have an ongoing T-shirt company that was started during my college, Sketching and Illustration has been something that I have worked on throughout my life, I have experience in playing the drums and I have even dabbled in Videography and Music Production. Even though my experience in Graphic Design is limited at the moment I believe I have a good understanding of the concepts used. I am also eager to continue to keep learning more and contribute to the people and organisations that help me. So here is a compilation of the work and ideas that I have created.

Black hole

This project started as experiment with shapes and colours and created the background image as seen above. This piece was mainly influenced by the 'street/urban' brutalist style. Seen in the image is the usage of vectors and pieces of text that do not necessarily have a direct correlation to the subject at hand.

Using the same image I had taken and used for my first poster, I undertook making a poster with a theme and meaning in mind. I planned on creating a poster that worked as a visual representation of emotion, the same way thermal vision would detect heat.

Inspired by maps and topographic maps. Combining that with repetitive patterning this design element was made.

For this piece I scanned a hand and a few notes, added those elements to Photoshop along with a painting and edited and used effects to create the final result.

For this piece I used various types of media to create the offbeat feeling of fear and abandonment that was required for the poster I had in mind

The poster created was to express the failings and shortcomings of our current educational system, the issues our students have to put up with and the feeling in which the adults and authorities in-charge cover up or invalidate the issues present within the system. For me it was a personal piece that I was quite proud of, I wanted to capture the fun aspect of school, while showing that 'behind-the-scenes' there were multiple voluntarily hidden issues.

BACK2SCHOOL

I am an avid fan of anime and decided to experiment with learning and making aspects of —magazine and magazine layouts so, I decided to start by creating a hypothetical introduction cover for the character Gojo Satoru from the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. I started by cropping pieces directly from the manga and adding components that match the characters personality, story and colour scheme. Utilising whatever pre-existing knowledge I had of Publication Design and colour theory I attempted to create a playful page with multiple elements but still held a sense of composition that appealed to the viewer.

This piece was made as part of an assignment as well, it was part of a typeface course and the assignment previous to this was a research-based assignment: To research a specific Typeface, I chose Caslon. The project following that was one to create a poster for the chosen Typeface. So I had broken down what the Typeface felt like to me, what its features were, what its history was, and came to the following features:

Caslon is dubbed to be the first English typeface; so I implemented Old English era symbols.

Caslon was used in almost all forms of English books/journals/papers upon its creation; so the colour scheme and layout of the main content are influenced accordingly.

The build of the Typeface gave me posh and jazzy themes, especially during the period when jazz was meant to signify a higher class in restaurants, hotels, etc. so I arranged the rest of the poster to the theme of jazz being a chaotic yet controlled style of music.

I then made the title as a negative to the entire poster.

original typeface of English origin—Caslon is a serif typeface that was designed in 1722. At that time most types were being Dutch sources, so Caslon was influenced by the characteristics of Dutch types. He did, however, achieve a level of craft that the first great English punchcutter. Caslon's roman became so popular that it was known as the script of kings, although the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Caslon being an Old style Serif typeface had the letterforms of Caslon's roman, or with a concave hollow at top-left of the “ G” without the known, downwards-pointing

This image utilises one of my favorite techniques; in which the image seems blurry, but makes sense once the viewer moves away from it. The theme is to not take things for granted, to not only realise something’s worth once it is too late, and to live in the present, or regret. Both the Graphic and Type in the poster appear to be more clear the further we move away from it /zoom out from it.

The “Walking through Bombay Magazine Cover” is an image made to capture the feeling of exploring bombay on foot; to be used in a magazine or poster cover. As a part of my graphic design portfolio, this artwork encapsulates the vibrant yet almost similar colours, crowded yet calm streets, and feeling of walking through the city on your own.

This is a design that I had a lot of fun making, I was extremely interested and had been researching on Chinoiserie and Blue willow–patterns and colour schemes– and decided to take those design concepts and make a very intricate design element. Over the course of a week I started to take inspiration from Indian textile designs and decided to use the colour schemes of the previous design concepts, the Indian design elements (the flowers/the ambi) to make a maximalist design. I then used dots alone to create the large maximalist design because of the contradiction—making a maximalist design with minimalist elements, Thus coming up with a name for this type of my designs: Minimalistic Maximalism.

NEWDE.IN

Newde is a T-shirt company started by me and two friends in 2020, we started the brand wanting to bring new meaning to the designs that were present in the Oversized streetwear market. Alot of the designs were just copies or iterations of another, so we wanted to bring a fresh set of designs and clothes to the market. Over the course of these two-and-a-half years I have made multiple designs, for various runs that we have done. They were met with great responses and constructive feedback that was worked on and implemented in the runs that followed.

In the duration that the company has existed there have been issues; regarding deadlines, vendor-miscommunication, delivery of products, as well as creative differences amongst members in the company. But these issues helped me gain a better understanding of how the systems across multiple businesses work and how to solve disputes among members and businesses. I also understood how to work with multiple Creatives’ inputs and suggestions to come up with plans that bring all the ideas together. At the end of the day the team and I at Newde were able to work, have fun and support each other creatively.
