Fake videos of real people and how to spot them Supasorn Suwajanakorn TED 2018 Can we create a digital avatar that looks, acts and talks just like our sweet grandma? This question has inspired Supasorn Suwajanakorn, a recent PhD graduate from the University of Washington, to spend years developing new tools to make it a reality. He developed a set of algorithms that can build a moving 3D face model of anyone from just photos, which was awarded the Innovation of the Year in 2016. He introduced the first system that can replicate a person's speech and produce a realistic CG-animation by only analyzing their existing video footage -- all without ever bringing in the person to a Hollywood capture studio. Suwajanakorn is working in the field of machine learning and computer vision. His goal is to bring vision algorithms out of the lab and make them work in the wild. People with integrity need to fight back and help those less well off. Some examples: James Hansen a former NASA scientist and professor at Columbia University. For decades, he has been sounding alarms of serious man-made global warming from use of fossil fuels. He is involved in lawsuits on behalf of youth to penalize companies producing fossil fuels. He does this to protect “rights” of certain American youth to a “stable climate.” No one has that right. Climate is what it is and is controlled only by nature. Hansen has been a strong supporter of nuclear energy, mainly one technology in particular. The problem is that this is not the only nuclear technology that will be used. Nor will any nuclear technology be implemented quickly worldwide like he suggests. Finally, the main advantages of nuclear power are to help humanity have better economies, food supply and clean water, not to pretend that a few prophets can reverse man-made global warming. Nuclear power cannot be a solution for man-made global warming, because carbon dioxide is an essential molecule of life, not a main cause of avoidable undesirable climate change. The video and audio technology described by Supasorn Suwajanakorn in his TED2018 Talk could be used to expand Hansen’s reach worldwide. It is already enough of a problem.

John Holdren was President Obama’s science advisor. He has been a leading alarmist against fossil fuels and nuclear power since the 1970s. He promoted man-made global cooling, man-made global warming, man-made climate change and man-made climate disruption, changing alarm slogans every decade or two. He supports nuclear plants that are in service today, but not very important advanced Gen IV nuclear technologies. The former uses only about 1% of the energy in the uranium ore. The later uses nearly 100%. That is 99 times more energy that can benefit humanity for thousands of years. Holdren wants that tremendous quantity of clean energy put back in the ground! Even with today’s nuclear technologies, he has claimed they aren’t safe enough. Our plants never caused a radiation death. People die from all kinds of accidents in their homes and near where they live. His energy recommendations are very mixed and harmful for the world. Why are his arms crossed? This can be a warning that something is hidden or not right. The video and audio technology described by Supasorn Suwajanakorn in his TED2018 Talk could be used to expand his reach to the world. It is already enough of a problem. Climate today has enough cold weather. Holdren’s climate alarmism is quatsch.

Jeffrey Mahn, a nuclear engineer writes: This high-tech tool will definitely be misused for a lot of nefarious reasons. It is a truly frightening prospect when you consider the number of people in America today who are bent on destroying others’ lives. The court of public opinion already believes anything it wants to believe, regardless of the truth. Since the public (which tends to be influenced more by emotion than fact) won't be able to distinguish reality from fantasy I'm very concerned that this tool will very quickly be weaponized. And with today's morally deficient culture America will be turned into a virtual battleground. 2
