Following President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s speech on December 8, 1953 “Atoms for Peace” the Soviet Union included America’s fledgling commercial atomic energy program in its subversive activities. One telling source was Tomas David Schuman who gave us information about Soviet Union funding of subversive activities. About 85% of KGB resources was expended on subversion. Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov (1939 – 1993), known in the west by his alias Tomas David Schuman. Yuri was a Soviet journalist for RIA Novosti and a former PGU KGN informant who defected to Canada. He then moved to the US where he was very helpful in our gaining an understanding of the subversive activities against Americans including the amount of funds being expended. Here is a 1984 (as I recall) interview: https://youtu.be/n4ZxO5I-s4E In addition, look up Vladimir Posner, who was widely accepted by liberals in the United States. After graduating from Moscow State University in 1958 he came to the United States as an agent of disinformation for the Soviet Union. Subversive activities resulted in the 1974 breakup of the US Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) resulting in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Which became the biggest obstacle to advancement of commercial nuclear power in America. And remains so today. Its decades past time to stop the pretext of the need for openness by the NRC helping the anti-nuclear industry favoring China and Russia.
