“The greatest honor in my life is to have had the opportunity to officially preserve the traditions of Madame GrĂŠs and to have welcomed her into my soul as my artistic compass.â€?
Madame Grés was Lloyd Klein’s Spiritual Mentor At the age of 22, Lloyd Klein was recruited to take on the role of Head Designer for the House of Grés in the mid 1990's. Today, he preserves many of those revered traditions that were developed and synonymous with the iconic Madame Alix Grés. The masterful micro-pleating as well as the simple but perfectly cut gowns on bias describe both Lloyd Klein and his mentor Madame Grés. The Japanese owners of the House had a counter intuitive vision for the artistic direction of the House and for the couture tradition of Madame Grés. So, upon the official completion of his contract of 6 seasons with the House, he chose to return to the Paris runways on calendar with the Federation de la Couture with his namesake label. Although there were several designers that attempted to follow him in that role, there was never another resurgence of the brand past his tenure, and eventually the House closed.
