BUILDING UP THE CHILDREN OF GOD TODAY AND ALWAYS

WHAT

IS THE ANNUAL GIVING CAMPAIGN?

WHERE

WERE 2013-2014 FUNDS ALLOCATED?

More than $183,000 was raised during the 2013-2014 school year through the Annual Giving Campaign, including several memorial scholarships, which were established to honor those who had an enduring passion for John Carroll including CHUCK ENNS, WILLIAM “BILL” CAMPBELL, and JON TOLER, which earned $16,000 in memorial gifts. Other donations were allocated to the wishes of the donors, and unrestricted gifts were spent in various ways including: 2013-2014 SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERS: Diamond Litty, Dr. John Carvelli, Dr. Kevin Hoeffner, Dr. William Stanton, Fr. Mark Szanyi, Fr. Rick George, Fr. Victor Ulto, Greg Kirk, Joan Silos, Laura McGarry, Mary Preston, Mike O’Leary, Ron Baliton, Stephen Neill EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS: Ben Hopper, Fr. Thomas E. Barrett, Jennifer Trefelner, Marie Privuznak, Maureen Leu

The Annual Giving Campaign is a coordinated effort by JCHS to raise funds that best serve its current and future students. The funds support a myriad of programs and help to balance the operating budget. The philanthropy of our alumni, parents, employees, community members, and stakeholders supplements the costs of academic and extracurricular programs, provides tuition assistance for students, attracts and retains excellent teachers, fulfills the wish lists of the staff, and much more.

THIS YEAR’S GOAL IS TO RAISE AT LEAST $200,000! WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THERE! ARE YOU “ALL IN” TO HELP US BUILD UP THE CHILDREN OF GOD TODAY?

2013-2014 JCHS FACULTY AND STAFF

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Approximately a third of our local student population is in need of financial assistance to attend JCHS, and in 2013, more than $200,000 was distributed to quality families who desired a Catholic education for their children.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Employees traveled to trainings and conferences throughout Florida to learn how to best utilize the new iPads and Apple programs, and to bring back information to teach others the latest software programs available to assist students.

ATHLETIC PROGRAMS

Some donors chose to allocate funds to refurbishing the rubberized track on campus. By making the improvements, JCHS was able to continue to host track meets, to have student-athletes practice in safe conditions, and to allow physical fitness classes to exercise together during the school day.

SOUTHEAST FOOTBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS

TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS

JCHS is now able to offer a wireless campus, with every student having his/ her own iPad to utilize as a learning tool. The cutting-edge programs were completed in the summer of 2013, including placing 60” flat-screen TVs in every room.

WHO

WILL THE 2014-2015 DONATIONS BENEFIT? TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR STUDENTS The need for tuition assistance continues to climb, with more students than ever applying for financial assistance. Dedicated families can be forced to withdraw their students because of their financial situation if funding cannot be provided. JCHS strives to provide quality education for students from 13 different parishes from 4 counties (St. Lucie, Martin, Indian River, and Okeechobee).

COLLABORATIVE WORK STATIONS IN OUR LIBRARY

It is our dream to redesign our library to create multiple, collaborative workstations for our students. The room would use the “Technology-Enhanced Active Learning” model to create areas for students to learn from one another, which has been proven to be the most efficient means for today’s learners. The cost of the T.E.A.L. lab would be approximately $70,000, and naming opportunities are available.

NEEDED FACILITY DEPARTMENTAL UPGRADES For example, JCHS has an aging fleet of buses, and the school is trying to replace them systematically, but one is needed soon to ensure the safety of our students. The buses are used to transport students to our Habitat for Humanity construction sites, to take students to and from campus in the morning and afternoon, for athletics events, and for field trips, etc. The cost of a school bus is $36,000, but if 36 people each gave $1,000, we could purchase one for the next school year!
