PROVOKING THE IMAGINATION

MARILYNN SPINDLER

Marilynn Spindler’s first love has always been painting. After thirty years as an art teacher, overlapped with eleven years as a wedding photographer, she reached a place where she can focus on improving and developing her painting.

Marilynn’s subject matter is inspired from her childhood growing up in rural Maryland. Combined with strong light and saturated color, she attempts to depict landscape images that include vintage architecture. The unknown histories and stories associated with old buildings intrigue her and she finds the subjects very compelling.

Marilynn works in a painterly technique, with layered applications of color that includes strong drawing. Her experience as a photographer makes her conscious of contrast and edges which is reflected in her work.
