Administrative and Management Experience Assistant Director Potomac Arts Academy George Mason University

The Potomac Arts Academy is the community arts umbrella for the College of Visual and Performing arts at George Mason University. Responsibilities were wide ranging, including fundraising, developing and managing of major scholarship programs, developing, marketing and coordinating children’s concerts and master class series, as well as various public speaking engagements to promote Potomac programs to community organizations and business/civic groups. In addition, I was regularly charged with coordinating events with various constituents in the community, including the Arts Council of Fairfax County, the American Youth Philharmonic, Fairfax County Public Schools, Prince William County Schools, ASTA, Acting for young people, and the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts. Program Developer/ Manager Honors Music Festival: responsibilities include coordinating, recruitment, admissions, interface with university life, residence life and concert hall, auditions, event programming and administrative tasks involved in running a large scale music festival. Instruments in the Attic: The Instruments in the Attic program receives musical instrument donations from generous community members and "recycles" them for use by Mason School of Music students in need and/or incorporates them into Potomac community programs. Since 2009, IIA has collected and distributed over 250 instruments, and created programs to the community and our own students. In addition, IIA has raised over $45,000 for instrument repair and scholarship programs. Musical Ambassadors: Through Instruments in the Attic, the Musical Ambassadors program connects qualified Mason School of Music students with select community organizations for an enhanced musical experience and engaging community performances in community centers, nursing homes, veterans programs and various other community venues. Teaching Scholars: Through Instruments in the Attic, the Teaching Scholars program connects qualified Mason School of Music students with children from several local elementary schools and provides instruments for children to learn with, along with enhanced musical instruction. Programs currently exist in Graham Road and Woodburn Elementary

The American Festival Pops Orchestra is the newest ensemble in residence at the Center for the Arts at George Mason University. Performing as part of the great performers series in the Center for the Arts and “Hylton Presents” at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, The American Festival Pops Orchestra is dedicated to performing wide ranging programs of popular American music from television, movies, and Broadway. •
