Salton Sea Artist Retreat How often do you catch yourself daydreaming? Looking out that window with a blank stare, hoping that by some miracle that scene of the backside of a building will turn into a white sandy beach, with a pino colada and a beach chair waiting for you. At this Artist Retreat, you will be smothered with comfort, relaxation, and most importantly a spectacle that includes earth, water, and sky. The main focus is the incredible views, starting at the peak of Palomar mountains in the SouthWest. It is our hope that the user may be able to draw inspiration from different aspsects of the environment, the mountains, the open body of water, the night sky, the flames of a bonfire. The units have a framless glass rail system to keep from hindering the view of the moutains, and maintaining a sturdy structure. Each unit is elevated and positioned along the coast each with a spectacular view of the mountains, water, and sky. Each morning the user will wake up in an alcove bed, where you can open the curtains to a stunning view of the mountains in the morning. The roof overhangs three feet and has a mechanical louvre to block out the harsh sun. There will be a non-structural wall system that will be installed into each unit. The abstract installment will create different shadows and all times of the day. This will be used to spark imagination and innovation. Being in a secluded place does not mean you will be without community, the bonfire decks are spaces that lead to the communal space and double as place to hang out with peers to complete the social experience. This will encourage people to collaborate and maybe even bounce ideas off eachother. The communal space will have an occulus-like roof, which can open and close to block out the harsh light, and open at night to see the stars. Has two openings, one to enter the main floor where the front desk is, with an open floor with bar tables in the center. Walking around the side will take you to the stairs that lead straight straaight tto o tthe he o pen rrooftop, ooftop, w hich ccan an b eu sed tto og aze aatt tthe he sstarlit tarlit night night ssky. ky. open which be used gaze
