Achieving a career in today’s entertainment and media industry takes a special talent—and an insider’s understanding of the business practices needed to succeed. At the Johns Hopkins Master of Arts Program in Film and Media, you can gain the creative expertise, compelling portfolio, and professional network to accomplish just that. While developing an
advanced set of skills through our intensive coursework in our state-of-the-art production facilities, you’ll also meet and work side by side with an array of visiting professionals— filmmakers, screenwriters, financiers, producers, and more—who can provide invaluable business insights and open doors for you in the industry.
INTENSIVE LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Our intensive course of study emphasizes experiential learning and focuses on the most current trends and advances in the entertainment industry. All our classes balance practice with theory and are taught by successful film and media artists and executives, leaders in their specific fields.
Students complete ten diverse courses, including eight elective courses within two concentrations of their choice. A final Capstone Project is also required, providing students the opportunity to demonstrate their professional skills and talent in a particular concentration for their work portfolio.
PROGRAM CONCENTRATIONS
Taught by veteran development and acquisitions executives, our Business Concentration gives you the skills to develop your own business plans, investor decks, and marketing plans and present them to invited executives, investors and entrepreneurs.

Our Writing Concentration, led by Academy Award-nominee Jeremy Pikser, gives you the opportunity to build a portfolio in drafting feature length screenplays, television spec scripts and television pilots that are reviewed by guest executives, agents and executive producers. access to the newest ways of developing and producing audio-visual content.
