Purpose of Christian Schools

The school you send your child to will forever impact them and plays a huge role in who they become in the future. Naturally, there are things that come to mind when deciding where they should go to school. Things like test scores, teacher to student ratio, graduation rate, the toughness of class schedule are the things that come to mind right off the bat. The academics are the key most important factor for most proactive parents who want their children to get the most out of their education. But what is overlooked sometimes is the social situation that you will be putting your child in. This has just as much, if not more, of an impact on who your child will become as a human being. How they will develop as a student is one thing, but how they develop as a member of society is an entirely different story. Christian Schools have risen to prominence over the years because they put an emphasis on academics and personality traits. Christian Schools are able to create their own set of rules based on what they believe creates good people on this planet. We are all familiar with the Bible, and rather you agree with everything that is written within the leather cover, we typically can agree on some of the absolute truths that are in the good book. Things like the Golden Rule are scattered

throughout the bible and there are several instances of what it means to be a good human being. These practices are at the backbone of Christian Schools. There are several different types of Christian Schools that you can send your child to and they all have their own set of guidelines when it comes to the way that they teach and mold students. Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Marianist, and Jesuit are just a few of the types of schools that you can send your child. Although they have their own style of teaching, at the root of everything they aim to create strong scholars and even better people. Marianist, or the Society of Mary, is a branch of the Catholic religion. This branch also has several schools all over the world and because of that they have developed what they call the “Characteristics of Marianist Education.” These characteristics include, “educate for formation in faith, provide an integral, quality education, educate in family spirit, educated for service, justice, and peace, educated for adaptation and change.” These qualities were developed as a guideline for faculty and staff to follow while creating their lesson plans. But it is also to be used by students as they are a representative of their school of choice and the Marianist education system. These are the types of qualities that need to be instilled in all people, not just those who go to a Marianist school. However, when students do attend a school such as this one they are more likely to spread these qualities to those who may not have received them. With all that being said, Catholic schools just recently outperformed public schools on college placement exams. If you value your child getting a quality education and the motivation to be a better person then you need to look into getting them enrolled in one of several Christian schools.
