ROOT CANAL TREATMENT EXPLAINED

By dictionary definition, a root canal “is a procedure to replace infected pulp in a root canal with an inert material. Root canals are known to be a painful experience but they are

incredibly important to the overall health of our mouths. Most people do not realize that proper dental hygiene is directly correlated to the health of the overall body. Our bodies are

one organ, connected to all other parts and operating as one. So when there is a problem with one aspect of the body you can believe that it will affect the rest of your body. For example, gum disease is directly correlated with heart disease. Which is why if your doctor tells you that you need a root canal then you need to set up an appointment as fast as possible.

The last thing you want is for your overall health to be infected because of a simple tooth. There are more than fifteen million root canals that are performed each year, with a little over forty

thousand happening each and every day. This is a routine procedure that can really help take care of your teeth in the long run and save you from a ton of excruciating pain. Although we

are not exactly sure when the first root canal took place, there has been evidence discovered that tells us the first one happened around three BC. That means for thousands of years people

have been getting root canals to deal with the pain. One of the main symptoms that you need a root canal is when you have serious pain while eating or whenever you put pain to the infected area.

I remember when my father needed a root canal, he put it off forever until he absolutely

required the surgery. He was a police officer for twenty-five years and I have seen him break his leg and even a few ribs, but nothing compared to the pain he felt when he needed a root canal. He could not even eat and every little movement just caused him an excessive amount of pain. The dentist was not his favorite place to go, I mean who likes going to the dentist? But after putting it off for so long his dentist became his best friend when they were able to perform a root canal and alleviate the pain. Now my father goes to the dentist twice a year just to make sure he never has to feel that type of pain again in his life.

I would advise you to do the same thing because seeing my father go through that pain was all it took for me to make sure my dental health was in check. Remember, health is wealth and that goes beyond just working out. Brush twice a day, three times even and check in with your

dentist if you want to maintain dental health. A bright smile is great to have, but you really want to make sure that you have no cavities or infections. These things can spread and before you know it you will be wanting to yank your tooth out by yourself. Prevention is the best medication, so take care of those pearly whites.
