5 tips on completing assignments

Following the tips below will help you complete your assignments on time and with the correct content. The key to a good assignment is preparation, planning and further reading. If the below doesn’t help remember to ask your tutors, there’s always someone who will help. If you want advice on college life or just personal issues then you can email us at Breamcateer@eastdurham.ac.uk or you can write to us at this address East Durham College, Willerby Grove, Peterlee, County Durham, SR8 2RN.

3. Plan you work – create a plan on how you will complete your assignment and what you will include.

2. Re read all your class notes - look at the information your tutor has placed on the VLE. You need to be familiar with the topic.

4. Don’t leave it until the night before – give yourself plenty of time to complete the assignment. Leaving it late can cause panic, stress and missed deadlines; leading to a backlog of assignments. And more stress!

1. Read the assignment brief very carefully - you need to understand what you have to do before you start. Always refer back to the grading criteria; this is what you will ultimately be marked against.

5. Use the LRC effectively – always do more reading on the topic, this will give you a better understanding and broader knowledge of the topic.
