Chasing a dream one day at a time

One of the best things about being married to my lovely and talented wife is the fact that we share an affinity for daydreaming.
We’ll buy a lottery ticket and plan all the ways we’d spend $200 million. A lot of those plans involve the Caribbean, by the way.
Lately, we’ve adopted a more modest retirement goal. Assuming the day comes when we’re not working seven days a week at two different small businesses, we want to drive around the country in a RV.
We’ve decided to get one about 20 feet long, with solar panels attached to generate electricity. We want one we can tow behind a SUV, since we don’t want to have to drive a giant RV to dinner every night.
There’s some concern about learning how to tow things, but I hear there are classes for that.
I spent some time on Google, picking out places to go as we check off states. There’s this great place in Maine where you can park on a bluff overlooking the ocean. There are worse ways I can think of to whittle away a summer’s day.
We have these conversations in the car, usually as we drive to or from work. They’re fun diversions that help me keep a goal in mind as I trudge through my day-to-day workload.
Sometimes, you have to make your own happiness. The idea that I might someday get to spend every waking hour daydreaming with my best friend always brings a smile to my face.
