YEAR 11 DUE: WEDS 19TH SEPT YEAR 10 DUE: MONDAY 24TH SEPT
HOW TO ACHIEVE THE HIGHEST GRADE I CAN (READ THIS 1ST!)
You are expected to produce one piece of art, design, illustration, 3d or photography work each week. This booklet is a great guide to follow week in week out. However, if you have a specific strength, eg: Photoshop, or character design, or Manga cartooning, or realism or whatever!... It is absolutely OK to produce different experiments and work within that specific specialism each week and not follow this booklet. But you must speak to Mrs Ingate so she can support you to meet the assessment points to achieve a DIST/DISTINCTION* (GRADE 7/8.5) She will help you create a plan!
DIST/DIST* (GRADE 7/8.5): My final image looks largely realistic, is in proportion and shows light and shade with a careful application of colour. Additionally, my sketchbook shows at least 1 page of sketches, experiments, notes or research, other artists works and my notes on it. MERIT (GRADE 5.5): My image has some minor issues with accurate drawing and may not show all shadows/highlights accurately or colour may not be applied smoothly. I have missed out little details. LV2 PASS (GRADE 4): Colour has been applied but it is uneven in places, it’s not really accurate and so doesn’t look that realistic, I may have traced it, I’ve added shadows/highlights are present. LV1 PASS (GRADE 1.5): My drawing is inaccurate in a few places and colour application is sometimes uneven (different directions or uneven or goes over the line).
What’s important is that is by Easter you have a body of work with which to build a portfolio that represents your hard work and development as a young creative. Each week your new work will be logged by your teacher (this is your homework) and you will get feedback and a grade for each piece which you can use to improve it to achieve a higher grade. There will be no time in lesson for this unit except to put the final portfolio together after Easter. If you do not do the home learning each week you will fail the course as this is one of the 4 units you must complete! Need help or tips? Need advice? Need equipment? Need inspiration? Need feedback? Don’t panic! Find Mrs Ingate. She does a mean hot chocolate ; ) ALL OF THESE EXAMPLES ARE DIST/DIST*
