I was fascinated by how old wooden Swedish houses can withstand centuries of bad weather from the study trip in Dalarna and Skane Province; this inspired me to only work with wood and metal for my project: a washing machine, operated by pure human p o w e r. These days, some people are still washing clothes by hand, especially with clothes that need special care. Also, this product could be placed in camping areas like summer h o u s e o r low - i n co m e re g i o n s w h e re t h e re i s a lack of electricity; thus my intention for this experimental project is to see if lowtechnology appliances have any potential in m o d e r n s o c i e t y.
