OPERATOR’S MANUAL

SYSTEM OVERVIEW This is a bespoke line side tool testing system, suitable for measurements of all continuous drive, impulse and hand held torque tools. It is based around Crane’s OMS software suite. The system consists of 3 mobile testing stations. These are on mobile testing tables and each table will contain the following items: 1x Motion® Tablet PC and docking station with OMS loaded (for operating instructions, please refer to manual supplied). 1x Crane TorqueStar Opta data collector (for operating instructions, please refer to Manual 890 supplied with this device and Quick Start Guide Manual 890-01). 3x Transducers of various sizes 1x Auto transducer switching module 1x Label printer 1x Bar code scanner The stations will all be running mobile versions of the Crane OMS software and will be able to dock (individually) with the main server which will contain the master OMS database. The mobile testing stations should each dock in turn with the main database at the beginning and end of every working shift to synchronise the databases. The database on the mobile units must be a mirror image of the main server database after all units have synched. The main server will be linked via the LAN to the office PCs (also running OMS) and to the office printer. Please refer to the System Schematic.

CHARGING The system uses rechargeable batteries on all its components for portability. This means all components should be connected to the mains for overnight charging (see individual manuals for details of charging), ready for unplugging for mobile operation at the start of each working day.

OPERATING The system should be synchronised (all 3 mobile units) with the main database at the start and end of each working day. Each units should be connected to an Ethernet cable via the network cable adaptor as shown on page 7. The user should then log into OMS (see manual) and select the Synch icon (see page 9) to update the main database. When synchronisation is complete, the unit can be disconnected from the network and is ready to move to the required area for tool testing. Follow this procedure for all 3 units. The units can be moved into position for tool testing using the onboard transducers and the TorqueStar Opta. (see Man 890). The data is collected on the Opta and transferred to the OMS using the touch Screen PC tablet. (see separate manual)

PRINTING Bar code labels can be printed via the onboard Zebra printer (see manufacturer’s own manual). Printing from the OMS system can also be sent to the Main office printer via the OMS system on the main office database computer.
