Design Concepts FALLING LEGOS

JENGA BLOCKS

04

Design Concept There are ideas that designers imagine in creating this design. The first one is from the falling legos. We decided to use our imagination and play with it to see what will be the outcome when we drop the legos all at once. The second one was when we were playing Jenga. At one move when we were stacking the Jenga pieces together, the whole block fell. We immediately noticed that a portion of those fallen pieces can be a possible design for this project.

Design Process

(1) A free hand sketch created by the designers. It has a lot of platforms that helps to connect each container van. The container vans' distance were designed too far with each other which made the presence of dead space occur. The designers did not choose this model because they believe that having dead space on the draft wastes the functionality of the whole plan.

Design Process

(2) The design was based on an abstract composition without considering the possible circumstances that might happen. Basically, the model shows uniqueness but sacrifices the stability of the structure itself which is why the designers decided to create a better draft.

Design Process

(3): Final Design The Boxville design was inspired by this idea, “divided yet connected. Divided because in each container van is a members own unique design, another is for privacy. Connected means in every level there is a connection. The orientation of each container van is different but the design as a whole makes the structure look connected as one. The aspects of the chosen theme is carried over throughout the structure.
