Hamadryads

Once upon a time, deep, deep in the forest where the trees are as tall as the mountains, there lived a Forest King and his subjects. The Forest King was the biggest tree of all, and he was a fair and just ruler of the woods. In the forest there lived two fair nymphs called Hamadryads, protectors of the trees. One particularly beautiful morning, the youngest sister looked up into the clear blue sky and wished that she could fly. “You should ask the Great King for wings,” said her sister. “But make sure to follow his instructions!”

The oldest begged the little nymph not to go, reminding her that the Forest King would punish her for breaking her promise. She could not persuade her headstrong little sister to stay, and sadly watched her fly away from their woodland home.

The sun was almost setting as the little nymph returned to the forest to find a very angry Forest King. He towered over her and his furious voice boomed throughout the woods. “You broke your promise, little one. I must remove your wings and make sure that you never leave this forest.” A tear rolled down the trunk of the Great King, for he took no pleasure in what he The youngest sister went to the Forest was about to do. Artist and Illustrator of Brokeart, Michiel Fook knows how hard it is to get publicity and sell your art. A painting takes allot time to make, and the cost of purchasing an original painting are also very high. Buying an original painting is not attainable for everyone… And for an artist it means that there is only a small market of people with the right “taste” and budget for his art. The ideal solution for this are “limited reproductions on canvas and / or prints”.

Production costs and time of a print or reproduction is much lower than the original, there are more people who could afford a reproduction, meaning you get a much larger market. The original stays safely in the artist possession, and could still be sold. . Even from canvases that have been sold, limited edition prints and reproduction can still be made! which means: Profit from the canvas, plus the profits of the reproductions. This way of working has proved very successful for Brokeart. Now we want to help other artists with the knowledge and experience we have gained With this in mind, the Platform Brokeart & Friends “was born. Brokeart & Friends is a webshop where we will sell art together with prints and reproductions of work from a selective group of artists and photographers. We will also, organize exhibitions and events so as to give more publicity artists group for the, “Brokeart & Friends” group. Galleries are usually focused on the traditional art and not Streetart, where as ‘Brokeart and Friends’ will truly become a place where ‘Streetart’ in the broadest sense of the word, can be found. The concept is quite simple, when we have chosen someone to join the Brokeart & Friends selection, the artist or photographer will send us his or her work digitally. This is then added to the webshop. The artist or photographer has no further worries, and no production cost
