GUIDE TO TEL AVIV

SHALOM AND WELCOME TO TEL AVIV! In honor of your arrival, we’ve asked the team at Jolt to share their favourite spots in town so you can experience the city as a true local. Quite a challenge for a city where so much is going on. Nevertheless, after months of deliberation (and some heated debate), here is a compilation of 19 awesome things to do while you’re here. And if this isnt enough, we’ve got plenty more up our sleeve — just ask. Enjoy the city!

MANTA RAY Just before the city of Tel Aviv turns into Jaffa, you’ll find the most pristine stretch of sand as well as some of the best fish and seafood the city has to offer. Couple that with the seafront views and you get a sunset to remember. Oh, don’t feel bad if you fill up on starters before your food even arrives — it’s a common problem :)

Nitzan, COO

THE PRINCE This local gem is located on the coolest street in Tel aviv. If that’s not enough, it’s on the top floor of a beautiful historic building (your chance to marvel at the eclectic style that Tel Aviv should be more famous for), with the most dramatic doorway that leads to an open terrace where you can sip cooling mojitos while people watching. I believe perfect is the word you’re looking for.

Shay,

Full-stack developer

PANDA PITA There are two types of Tel Avivians: those who like falafel, and those (smart ones) who prefer sabich. And for the latter like myself, there’s no rival to Panda Pita. It’s difficult to convey the charm of this place, or how delicious the food is — you’ll just have to try it for yourself. Oh, and it’s still a secret spot (even to locals), so keep it on the down-low.

Leora,

Curator

PORT SAID Eyal Shani is the poster celebrity chef of Tel Aviv. Although there are many locations where you can try his food, Port Said is by far the coolest and most laid back. And since cool and laid back is what this city is all about — there’s really no better choice.

Yael,

Special Projects Manager and Launcher

RADIO EPGB While every big city has its fair share of parties, no other place will make you question everything you know about having a good time quite like Tel Aviv. Take Radio EPGB for example. You’ve got your drinks, there’s waiters and food is served. Sounds like a typical bar right? Think again.

Moriel,

Content Operations Manager

TEL AVIV MUSEUM Now that you’ve done the food thing (good, ah?) and nightlife (fun, ah?), how about a little culture? The Tel Aviv Museum maybe an obvious choice as far as museums go but for good reason. A vast collection of works by both international and local artists, as well as unexpected exhibitions, to name a few. And if museums are not your thing, the building alone is worth the trip here.

Ilanit,

Art Director

THE BEACH One of the great things about this city is that anything you can do here, whether it’s eating, partying or just kickin’ it back — you can also do at the beach. It’s like killing two birds with one stone. Plus, it’s about 20 degrees (Celsius) in the winter here, so it’s good all yearround. Why bother elsewhere?

Yevgen,

Product Designer

HAKOSEM Despite what you may have heard, falafel is a main staple of Israeli diet. What’s so great about Hakosem is how they managed to take a standard Israeli dish and give it the respect it deserves. I mean, they took falafel to a whole ’nother level. Well worth the wait (keep your eyes peeled for their surprise treats!).

Ori,

Head of Product

JAFFA OLD TOWN Tel Aviv is not instantly beautiful to newcomers. It takes a while to really get — we know. Unless that is, you’re talking about the old town in Jaffa. The well preserved Middle Eastern architecture of the area makes it an ideal spot to wander around and just get lost for a couple of hours.

Alex,

Product Manager

BELLBOY COCKTAIL BAR Now that we’ve established the fact that Tel Aviv’s no. 1 attraction is its nightlife (yes, we have), what better way to enjoy it than over cocktails? Also, they just happen to be all the rave right now. There are many great spots, but if you’re looking for a place with a chic vibe, elegant style, and delightful mixers — BellBoy is a sure bet.

Dafna,

Community Manager

THE STREETS ON KING GEORGE Welcome to the startup nation! While it may seem that everyone here is on vacation, the truth is that they’re all in the middle of 10 different projects. That’s why this city is jam-packed with wonderful cafes— it’s the perfect place to work and play. Whatever you need to get done, you can’t go wrong with Streets. Try to grab the corner table immediately to your left when you walk in, and you’ll enjoy the rare luxury of charging your computer. Your battery will thank you.

Roei, CEO

THE FLEA MARKET If you’re on the hunt for a souvenir to remember Tel Aviv’s unique blend of culture, heritage, and lifestyle, head out to the Flea Market on a Friday morning. Just don’t get there too early (this is still the Middle East) and remember to take your time there, it’s no place to rush through.

Shelly,

Business Operations Manager

DINNER WITH LOCALS Although it’s a well-known joke that no one from Tel Aviv is really from Tel Aviv, it’s the people that make this city great. So if you truly want to get to know it — you have to get to know the people. Do this by focusing your efforts on getting yourself invited to a Friday evening dinner. How do you ask? Well, let’s just say that some of our team members are really friendly :)

Lior, CPO

GRAFFITI TOUR IN FLORENTINE Okay, it might not be New York in the 80’s (what else is, really), but Tel Aviv definitely has its fair share of street art — especially on the south-end and Florentine neighborhood. A walking tour, either guided or self-guided, is the best way to take it all in. Plus, you’ll get to experience the cool, young vibe of these areas (as well as the delicious coffee!).

Nitzan,

Community Team Manager

KULI ALMA Let’s get it started! Kuli Alma offers so many (okay, three) different areas, each with its own party scene, that you’re sure to find something for whatever your partying preference may be. And if you’re looking for serious clubbing — drop me a line.

Nadav, CTO

MASHYA We Israelis love our breakfasts. And modesty aside, we kick ass at it. Especially when it’s (and the good ones normally are) an all you can eat buffet. With so many great places to choose from, rest assured that the breakfast and brunch menu at Mashya will keep you going all day long. It really sets the bar for the most delicious meal of the day.

Arava,

Community Manager

TAIZU It’s not all about street food and Hummus. Fine dining should definitely be on your to-do list while you’re here. This place offers a jumble of Asian food executed so meticulously that you’ll have to remind yourself you’re in Israel. Not exactly sure why though — we are in Asia.

Adi,

Community manager

BANA You may have heard, but Tel Aviv is the vegan capital of the world. True, it does have to do with the insane selection of Hummus joints, but it really is about places like these that redefine vegan cuisine. Bottom line, every dish here is guaranteed to surprise you, whatever your culinary preferences are. Whoever is in charge of the food here must really love vegetables.

Keren, Analyst

HAMIZNON Amazing food + pita = why are you still reading and not running to take your place in line?

Ud,

Content Development Manager
