About Me
As a child, I loved using my imagination to draw. I would sit in my room and draw anything that would come to mind. My most favorite things to draw were ships, buildings and cities. I loved architecture so much that I received a drafting table for Christmas. But as the years went on, I lost my flare for architecture. After many misguided attempts at finding a major, I found myself in Jackson Street Building. With a tour of this beacon of landscape architecture, my long lost love was rekindled. Everyday, I wake up loving what I am learning and doing. Landscape architecture is truly a dream.

Rocksprings Community
285 S Rocksprings Street Athens, GA 30606 The Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful, Athens-Clarke County Community Tree Council and Athens Housing Authority partnered together to plant shade and fruit trees in the Rocksprings Community Center. With a grant of five-thousand dollars, we were tasked to create a planting plan and an illustrative set of plans for the clients. The design was limited to planning plant locations, plant types and plant use. Considerations for plant types were low maintenance, tough and locally available. The design focuses on native or indigenous plants that are known to easily survive in Athens. Fruiting plants were placed near paths or congregation spaces; thus, the edible fruit will be easily accessible to the whole community.

Master Plan, Hand Line Work and Photoshop Rendering
Planting Plan, AutoCAD The design was separated into four spaces: a tall shade canopy area (A), a large play green (B), a playground (C) and a multi-purpose education space (D). I maximized the budget to provide a defined space with a large number of trees and shrubs. The project required a planting plan (TopRight Corner) to provide the location for plants, to be installed by volunteers on Arbor Day.

Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church
973 Prince Avenue Athens, Georgia 30677 Young Harris Memorial United Methodist Church campus is full of history. The church grounds are traditional to southern historic landscapes with an aging shade canopy and a plethora of evergreen shrubs. For this project, we were assigned to groups. My fellow group members were Xiao Tan and Allen McDonald. We all worked together to create most of the master plan. I was in charge of designing the garden and playground and rendering the master plan. We were tasked with redesigning the campus to provide a more inviting/open churchyard.

The front flower beds (A) create a friendly community connection with the long swooping lines. The church will have a utilitarian courtyard (B) for church gatherings. Also, a new “sculpture garden” evoking Christian doctrine will be placed in front of the parking lot (C). The reverend’s house will be enclosed with spacedefining plantings (D).
Infill Housing Project
295 Hill Street Athens, Georgia 30606 This area of Athens is undergoing a period of rapid growth and development. More people wish to leave the suburbs in favor of the city. Vacant lots provide the opportunity for quality private space in an urban setting. The lot is .4 acres and is slightly sloping towards Hill Street. The client in this project is an elderly couple, who are recently retired. They have a love for entertaining, gardening and meditation. The husband also does physical therapy for arthritis.

The design focuses on the elderly couple’s wishes for the site. The large patio (C) provides a great space for entertaining. The shade garden (D) provides a quaint and quiet space for meditation. The flower cutting garden (E) provides a space for the couple to actively garden. To help with the husband’s therapy, there is a formal lawn parterre with walkway (B) and a hot tub (A). The nine-foot elevation change requires two retaining walls. With these two walls, the site will be mostly flat, creating a more accessible space. Ramps connect the patio to the upper parterre.
In Progress Work Our current project focuses on the Moss Side Conservation Subdivision. We will be designing a neighborhood for active senior living. Currently we are inventorying the site. So far we have completed: slope, soil, surface hydrology, vegetation, surrounding land use and vicinity inventories/analyses.

SketchUp Work In my spare time, I experiment with SketchUp and create architectural models. I have included three of my favorite simple models. The first model is a church influenced by Norman Gothic and French Romanesque Architecture. The second model is a house influenced by nineteenth century Gothic Revival architecture The third model is influenced by French and English Baroque city planning. This model focuses on the palace complex.
