Say Goodbye to Coffee Chains: How to Make Iced Coffee on Your Own
Iced coffee has become a very sought after beverage, and people are spending a lot of money at coffee shops for this delicious, cooling beverage; but you don't have to! It is quite simple to make iced coffee from the comfort of your own home and will cost you less than purchasing an iced coffee from your local shop.
There are a lot of different recipes out there for iced coffee beverages, but they all start off pretty much the same way. To begin, you will want to prepare your cold-brewed coffee the night before. Start of by adding one-third cup ground coffee into a glass jar. Next, pour in one and one-third cups of cold water. Now stir or whisk those two ingredients together until there are no visible lumps. Tightly cover your glass jar and keep it in the refrigerator overnight.
In the morning, remove your concoction from the fridge and grab a tall glass. Fill the glass with the appropriate amount of ice; this will be at your discretion. You are going to use a coffee filter to strain your mixture into your glass filled with ice. If things aren't moving along as nicely as you would like them to, use a spatula to get things going a little quicker. Once you are finished straining your pre-made mixture, add some milk and a sweetener of your choice, if you choose, and you are finished. All that is left to do is enjoy your homemade iced coffee! If this just seems to be too many steps for your busy schedule, you can brew your coffee normally, let it cool, and pour it over some ice; however, the flavoring will not be as robust.
Maybe you prefer some style added to your iced coffee and usually order something a little fancier at your local coffee shop. You can do that at home as well! Try adding some vanilla extract or cinnamon for a warmer flavor. You can even add some caramel or ice cream to spice your drink up, or be creative and come up with your own recipe for your perfect, homemade iced coffee.
Whichever method you choose and whatever add-ins you put in your homemade beverage, you will find yourself with a delicious, tailored iced coffee that will also be saving you money. You will thank yourself for making the switch from coffee-shop iced coffee to your own, signature iced coffee.
