Assassin's Creed has always been a solid IP. With stunning environments highlighted by breathtaking vistas, intelligent game play, and intricate stories, the franchise remains one of the most engaging currently available. Having said as much, Assassin's Creed has always lacked replayability associated with online multiplayer. With the announcement of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, that changed in a big way. For this installment of the franchise Ubisoft has included an online multiplayer mode, and if your one of the lucky few, you may be able to experience this new game mode before the masses. Announced earlier this month, the Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Beta will be available for Sony PlayStation 3 owners who have pre-ordered the game, and will be made available beginning October 4th in the US. While there are no current plans to release the multiplayer beta to any other platforms at this time, a few advanced codes have been sent out to various Sony Plus members in the last week. With early screen shots and a newly released trailer, the multiplayer looks fantastic. Unfortunately I will not be able to take part in this beta, but if any of you out there have a first hand impression, please feel free to leave feedback in the comments section. Continue reading after the trailer for a summary of game modes and maps available in the October 4th release of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Multiplayer Beta. As announced earlier, the beta will include nine characters and two game modes across three maps. Below I have included a breakdown of each of the game modes and the following list of characters can be found in the trailer above. Characters: The Noble The Prowler The Priest The Executioner The Engineer The Courtesans The Barbers The Doctors Wanted Mode The Goal: To obtain the highest score in 1, 10 minute round. The Gist: In this mode 6 - 8 players will compete for high score at the end of the 10 minute round. A random "target" will be generated by the system, and the remaining players become "pursuers." These "pursuers" will score points by taking out the targets and targets can score points by
cancelling the contract on themselves by identifying one of his/her pursuers and stunning them. Interaction is limited to targets and pursuers, with "open conflict" being triggered in an innocent dies. Once "open conflict" has been engaged, the offender's whereabouts will be made known and the target will be able to cancel their contract. The Geography: Both game modes will be playable across two maps: Rome and Castle Gandolfo, from the outset. The community, as a whole, will have the ability to unlock the third and final map: Siena, at some point. Alliance Mode The Goal: To obtain the highest score with your partner in 2, 4 minute rounds. Teams will share the same character model. The Gist: 3 teams of 2 players will compete for high score at the end of 2, 4 minute rounds. Each team will be randomly assigned a target team, and much like Wanted Mode, teams score by assassinating their target, or by stunning and identifying their pursuers. Additional points will be awarded in this mode to teams that work together to accomplish goals like multiple kills. The Geography: Both game modes will be playable across two maps: Rome and Castle Gandolfo, from the outset. The community, as a whole, will have the ability to unlock the third and final map: Siena, at some point.
As I mentioned above, Beyond the Bookshelf isn't merely about novels, my friends and I will be reviewing stories presented in all forms. So join us if you will on this journey, feel free to post your comments, maybe we will get know one another or maybe you will never read a single post I write after this. Whether you love what I have to say or you can't stand the things I have to say; friend or foe, it's all just another story. No matter the medium, stories are a way for people to connect, reflect, and experience the world that lies just beyond the bookshelf. Did I mention we do video game reviews, movie adaptations and news tidbits too? http://www.beyondthebookshelf.com
