YOUR

LTG

Hello division 1! Can you believe it is the end of October?! Yall have worked incredibly hard and really surprised me these past few months. There are a few clubs that have been quite distant but I hope to change that this upcoming month. Other than that many more things are coming up and I am here to prepare you. I have been announcing that dues are just around the corner. NEWSFLASH they are here. Although the MUC just opened you have until December 1st for the early bird due date. If you are struggling with dues or have any questions please email me. The top 25 clubs in Quarter 1 have been released!! Where you one of them? If not that means there are many things to work on. Contact me and lets see what we can do to improve your club. More information is in the rest of my newsletter. Please read it all. If any of you ever need anything please email me. I am always here for you. Yours in friendship and service, Jonathan Perez Lieutenat Governor of Division 1

REPORTING

Last month was a great month for reporting. We had 8 out of 10 schools report. If you were one of the clubs that did not report please contact me ASAP. If you did report Good Job! There are a few things to remember for next time. When it ask for "Club name" please put your School name and not "Key Club." Please make sure to put "1" when it ask for your division. DO NOT put "Division 1," because I will not get a copy. Another thing that each club should be doing, is submitting monthly newsletters and articles. If your article gets chosen for the "Tex-OKey" your club can accumulate points, which can definitely add up. Y'all are doing great don't forget that all report, newsletters, and articles are due on the 5th. - REMEMBER ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING

DUES

&

YOF

As we all know dues are HERE. In order for everyone to turn in their dues on time, each club must come up with a way their club will collect dues. You can turn them in directly, mail them in, turin it in through an online payment system (if your school allows), and make a drive thru were students can come and drop off money. These are all super good ideas, but you must choose the one that best fits your club. Of course if your club comes up with a different way to collect dues, you can always do that. The MUC is now open and if you want to pay early bird you MUST turn in your money before December 1st. If you ever have any questions, concerns, or problems with dues, please email or text me. MUC IS OPEN EARLY BIRD DUE NOV.1ST YOF applications should be submitted and winners will be announced after the committee had reviewed all submissions.

COVID

SAFETY

I know it's a part of everyone's routine by now but let's continue to keep yourself and others safe. When we go out and serve make sure to wear a mask, wear gloves, don't touch your face, and stay home if you feel sick. (I promise you there will be more service events after) With everyone returning to school in person, take extra precautions when you can't social distance, or when other situation arise. Make sure you mask is covering you mouth and nose for everyone's safety. Continue to advocate safe habits for everyone to see. Please stay safe and more ways you can fight through covid and serve as a club are headed your way.

Always be aware of the people around you and dont touch your face.

Be Smart about your decisions

Wear A Mask when you go out or when you cant social distance.

MAJOR EMPHASIS More than 10 million kids enter a children's hospital like Cook Children's Medical Center across North America every year. Contact your local CMN hospital and invite a representative to a club meeting to see how your club can help during these scary times.

Since the 1940s, Key Clubs have worked with March of Dimes to make a positive impact in the lives of babies everywhere. Help support moms throughout their pregnancy, even when everything doesn’t go according to plan. You can help by hosting service projects, raising funds, and educating communities about the crisis of preterm birth.

UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. They do so by community-based services in primary health care, basic education, and safe water and sanitation. Visit the Unicef website to see how you can take action.

Thirst Project hopes to educate the next generation by arming students with information about how they can be a part of social change, make a difference and encourage others to join in the effort. Landscape Structures (LSI) has joined Kiwanis International as a vision partner to bring play to communities across the globe. LSI is proud to provide high-quality commercial playground equipment and planning consultation services that reflect the high degree of integrity that Kiwanis clubs expect. Nickelodeon currently presents two major campaigns each year that encourage action in kids globally. Worldwide Day of Play reinforces Nickelodeon’s mission to make the world a more playful place by leading active, playful events across the country. Nickelodeon’s Get Dirty campaign seeks to educate kids, families and teachers about what they can do to help protect the planet in fun, mindful ways. The U.S. Army empowers tomorrow’s leaders by offering advanced schooling for today’s top careers. Not only that, programs like the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and March2Success.com allow students to go to college debt free and excel in the classroom with helpful academic resources. Up with People strives to develop a sense of social responsibility in their participants through hands on community service. Service projects are integrated into each city visited during the semester. By volunteering to meet the specific needs of each community, participants develop insight into how different cultures address social and political challenges. Squads Abroad is a 501c3 international development organization that provides Key Club members with affordable service opportunities to volunteer virtually from home or abroad to make a meaningful impact in under-served communities through Health, Education, STEM or Business focused programming.
