Savanna Savanna is home to lots of the world’s most recognizable species, including elephants, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, lions, hyenas, and warthogs. The animals that live in grasslands have adapted to the dry, windy conditions. There are grazing animals like gazelle and deer, burrowing animals such as mice and jack rabbits, and predators such as snakes and coyotes.
COLD
Tundra Animals that live here are Mountain goats, sheep, marmots, and birds. They live in mountain, or alpine, and feed on the low-lying plants and insects. The few plants and animals that live in these harsh conditions of the tundra are trying their best just to survive.
WET
Rain Forest Animals that live here are jaguars, poison dart frogs, hyacinth macaws, tree toed sloths, and golden lion tamarins. Tropical rainforests have the most kind of living organisms on Earth. Although they cover less than 2 percent of Earth’s surface, rainforests are homes for more than 50 percent of the plants and animals on Earth.
DRY
Desert Animals that live here change themselves to help them keep cool and use less water. Camels, for example, can go for days without food and water. Many desert animals are nocturnal, coming out to hunt when the boiling sun has set. Some animals, like the desert tortoise in the southwestern United States, spend much of their time underground. Most desert birds are nomadic (always on the move), crisscrossing the skies in search of food.
