The Biggest Natural Disasters

Introduction A natural disaster is a natural hazard, and can be killers. The biggest ever was the Bengal famine. The Mount St. Helens 1980 volcanic eruption was the most recent biggest natural disaster. We will look at a few of the worst.


Japan's Tsunami ●

Date: 11th march The tsunami was 40.5m (133feet) high. It caused 15,883 deaths, 6,143 injured and 2,681 people missing. The tsunami traveled up to 10km inland.


2010 Haiti Earthquake â—?

The earthquake caused 316,000 deaths and was estimated to be the nd 2 most deadly earthquake of all time. The government estimated that 280,000 building have collapsed or damaged


The 1931 China Flood ●

Areas effected: Yellow river, Yangtze river and the Huai river .

It lasted from July until November 1931. The worst time was from July till August.


1970 Bhola Hurricane ●

The storm struck central Bangladesh. The hurricane's winds were up to 205kph. The hurricane was th formed on the 7 of November and hit land on the 13th.


2012 China Flash Floods ●

56,933 people were evacuated Only 79 people drowned It caused 1.6 billion USD in damage. It destroyed at least 8,200 homes
