EARLY LIFE

Neil Armstrong was born on August 5th 30 Â in Wapakoneta, Ohio. After finishing college, he became a test lot. He flew lots of planes testing them out see how well they flew. It was a very angerous job, but very exciting at the same me. He flew over 200 different types of rcraft during his job.

In September of 1962 he was selected for the NASA Astronaut Corps. He had to go through physical tests, but he passed and was soon part of the "new nine", or second group of nine NASA astronauts.

FIRST SPACE FLIGHT

Neil Armstrong’s first flight into space was in a Gemini spacecraft,1966. He was a command pilot of the space hip and flew the first successful docking of two vehicles n space. But the mission stopped short because it began to oll.

THE FLIGHT TO THE MOON

On July 20 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin( his pilot )move into the Eagle . They arefully undocked from the command module , he Columbia . Mike Collins stayed in Columbia o orbit the moon alone while Armstrong and Aldrin began a great adventure.

The Eagle .

THE LANDING ON THE MOON

There were lots of rocks on the nding place and Armstrong began ontrol the spacecraft himself . Aldrin ld Armstrong how high the Eagle as and how fast it was moving wards the moon.

There was very little fuel in the spacecraft so it could crash into the moon. At 18 minutes past 4 , in the afternoon , the Eagle landed softly on the moon . There was enough fuel to use the engine only for 20 more seconds.

ON THE MOON

Armstrong and Aldrin worked ard while they were on the moon . hey took 24 .4 kg of rocks back to e Eagle and they put some ientific instruments on the moon. ne of the instrument measured oon quakes. Before they got back into the Eagle they put up an American flag and the legs of the Eagle stayed on the moon.

Returning To Earth

The three pilots arrived back n Earth on July 24th. They nded in the Pacific Ocean .

While they got back to America they had to stay in the Laboratory for three weeks to monitor if they carried the diseases or not . It was lucky that they had no disease . By studying the rocks The scientists could find out about the moon and they soon discovered that there was no life on it .The moon is dead.

RETIRMENT & DEATH After the Apollo 11 flight, Armstrong worked as a professor of aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He was received many honors and rewards .
