Education Topics for December National Stress Free Family Holiday Month December is National Stress Free Family Holiday Month, so there are many Coping with Stress classes being taught this month. This class will teach clients daily techniques on how to reduce stress. Clients cannot effectively lose weight if they are stressed because cortisol levels rise leading to abdominal weight gain. Diabetes Awareness In the past two months, five of MRC’s clients have been taken off diabetes medications by their doctors. MRC will pass out information all month about the importance of monitoring signs of diabetes. Signs range from using the restroom frequently to blurred vision.
Exercise Works MRC is planning a January Jog for the first weekend in January. Clients will recieve information about how exercise enhances the program during the month of December. Clients that exercise on the MRC program lose 45 percent more than clients who do not. Preparation is Key MRC is having a class on Dec. 21 on the importance of preparing meals for the week due to our clients’ busy schedules. Clients that prepare meals during the weekend feel that their programs are more successful than those who do not.
Holiday Foods that Taste Great and Help You Lose Weight Turkey The breast meat without the skin is very lean and high in nutrients. Turkey is also on MRC menus, so feel free to eat a plump piece of turkey without feeling plump yourself!
Cauliflower Cauliflower is high in Vitamin B6 and fiber. When cauliflower is mashed, it tastes like mashed potatoes. The only difference is that cauliflower will not throw clients out of their chemical balance like mashed potatoes will.
Apples Apples contain no sodium, no fat, and no cholesterol. Apples do contain a high level of antioxidants, which help to build the immune system. Apples are on the MRC menu and are great with cinnamon.
